I would love to hear about everyone's favorite turnout blankets and sheets. I am going to have to buy some for this season and I don't even know where to start! I likely need a sheet (no fill) and maybe a light and heavy blanket.

I like Weatherbeeta brand. They are affordable..... I have turnout sheets and turnout blankets in this brand. I like that they run on the large size not skimpy in fit. Long drop on the sides so my big barreled horses have full coverage. Tail cover is full and long, leg straps are very adjustable and long enough. Surcingles are well stitched to the blanket low and so far I have no tears or rips. My sheets and blankets have pleated shoulder panels and I love the extra movement room for my paint horse who is just plain "big" in the shoulders and everywhere else. My blankets were power washed but not machine washed clean and look great. I do spray mine with water repellent spray after washing. My horses have been out in heavy rains and come in dry and comfortable after hours outside {their choice}.. My blankets are between 180-220 grams of fill which is plenty for us here in Florida. Horses do grow coats but when it gets abnormally cold I do blanket for wind, rain and cold combined. Sheets go on less than 40 degrees at night, off at 6:15 am for the day as the sun is really warm yet. So, that is what I have that is affordable in turnout styles. Have I mentioned they are affordable.. I also have Triple Crown sheets and blankets but they are not turnout style but stable designated...and were expensive. I have some Baker style too....nice blankets, now old and no I would not replace them with the same. They are very, very heavy to lift and deal with on & off everyday.
I have not had any of the Rambo or anything else "expensive" and find no reason or need to buy that large priced for "names". I like Schneiders blankets and the many different fit styles. { www.sstack.com } If I needed to buy again I would really look into them, I have read so many good reviews. Warranty on their blankets that is outstanding since we all know how "fragile" some blankets are against our horses of destruction.
OK...done with my book. Bet hl has trunks full of used in good condition for a pittance...in fact I am positive as I bought one for Chance who we sold and sent his blanket with him as no one else would it fit. {to small} mini-graphics-miscellaneous-219682 ...

There are so many different brands.. i like weatherbetta and rambo. measure your horse from the center of his chest and go around the near side to the center of his heiny... and when strapping make sure the stomach straps are tight enough that if he lies down he does not get his hoof inside the strap..
sheets are great for windy warmish days. and after riding when the horse is a little sweaty and needs to dry off. . and of course the heavier is good for cold ... for real cold nights i love the kind of blanket with lambs wool underneath. so happy shopping. shopping
and yes i have all kinds and weights.. just let me know what you want and what size
