I've been noticing a dog smell once in a while at my house. Hate that! The dog has gradually been spending more and more time on the furniture, and every once in a while I have to claim my territory back. So I have been shampooing the rugs, giving the dog a bath, shampooing the couch (even though I keep sheets on the furniture and wash them frequently, it eventually gets an odor).
So Gooey has not been happy with my disruption of his castle. He gives me a look of disdain as he stands in front of the gate, wanting to climb into MY favorite recliner which he has recently been claiming as his. His attitude has been noted. He is insulted, that the only couch he is allowed on is in the other room with the big screen tv and is forced to share it with my hubby. His only other choice is his FLUFFY bed with the tempur-pedic pad, poor thing.
So I come home yesterday to find him sitting on my recliner with a satisfied look on his face. The gate was still in place, he had jumped over the arm and was quite pleased with himself.
Stinker....

This is why we put in all laminate and tile flooring and our few pieces of furniture are leather (Gerald's recliner is "leather" lol). We trade having nice things for doing what is easy on every one. I have one nice piece of furniture at home; carved wooden desk with the claw feet and amazing scroll work. Can I keep adults from laying their beverages on it? Hell No! I covered it in a thick wool horse blanket, then overlaid 2 inch thick pieces of glass so NO wood is exposed. The only other nice piece at home is tucked into a corner of the living room behind the sofa so no one can use it. When I get home to live there will be some rearranging lol

Oh I am so with you on the glasses on wood tables issue! In my house, I can't have a coffee table... hubby thinks it is for days worth of dishes to be piled in front of him as he watches tv, so I did away with it. Now he puts his dishes on the fishtank.....
