In my opinion def needs to be banned. It's not beautiful at all, and it makes me sick that those "things" on their feet are even allowed? And the way rider sits on their horse back can't be good for a horse. wtf

Lip those are older videos and that type of equipment is no longer allowed by the tennessee breeders organization... and at shows the stewards pick at random horses to look at their feet and lower legs and a horse that has any evidence of chains. bruising. or pads are disqualified.
I remember years ago having to pick up 4 horses at a barn in pennsylvania.. a lady had a horse on cross ties. and i am assuming it was a tennessee walker.. the saddest eyes... now when i go to another barn i touch nothing... no horse or stall. but this horse drew me into his space. oh and i also play the novice. and ask many questions.. apparently the owner who was brushing this horse just got him and his feet had high wedge shoes on him... i asked what they were for and what was wrong with his feet.. the owner said it was to make him pick up his front feet.
mini-graphics-smileys-861556 i repeated that a horse as nice looking at that gelding was he did not need to have anything fake on him to make him pick up his front feet. and perhaps the best thing was to have them removed... she looked at my like i was a freak.. than i told her it was cruel and inhumane for her to continue with the wedges as it causes his coffen bones to move and pain in his feet and later to cause founder. and ligaments to become stretched... now she looked at me with a little more interest.. i told her to take the shoes off. cause the horse" told me his feet hurt" .. i hugged the horse and told him i loved him.. he put his head into my chest.. and sighed..." she said he never did that to her.". i told her he would if she took the shoes off.. i walked away in tears.

That is a sad story. But cruelty still exist in this type of shows.

Cruelty happens when people feel that they must demean and overpower another to make themselves feel better.
