Just a few miscellaneous pictures I took over the last few days. First is my oh so cute kitten Sophie sleeping on the couch with me. Attachment DeletedI spent most of the day today in an informational seminar hosted by my equine vets. Presentations were given about hay nutrition, acupuncture and one by the Platinum Performance rep about their products. In the afternoon they took topics from the audience and spent about 15 minutes discussing those topics which included laminitis, airway inflammatory diseases (heaves, COPD, etc) and foal diarrhea. It's not a great picture but I just think my two male vets, Barry standing up and Hunter in the black hat, are so cute (but both are married). Here Barry is trying to explain how corrective farrier work benefits a laminitic horse. Attachment Deleted

These next pictures were taken this morning. Friday was barely 30* with rain/sleet mixture all day which of course froze overnight. Just about everything was closed (except my work) Friday due to the weather. This is very unusual for SE Louisiana (usually we only see /ice once every few years). They are predicting this coming TUesday to be very similar to the weather we experienced Friday. Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

Sounds like you had a good day at the seminars...
As for the weather... we are forecast to have rain...you can keep the ice. Just a few hours south of you makes such a difference.
My husband saw the "ice" pictures and cringed....

We are getting the degrees in the low single digits and i would imagine the cold in your area is a very unusual situation. bundle up and carry extra clothes in the car, and when driving do not slam on the brakes just take your foot off and gently press down on the gas to maintain control. if all else fails, pray.
as for the conference, i love to hear what people have to say about how to help the horses. perhaps post some information about what you heard.
