I am starting to window shop for my ideal, dream horse. I found one I like but apparently he has ringbone. The ad says he is sound and competes with maintenance. (I will paste his ad below).
I've never dealt with ringbone. Honestly, I'm not even quite sure what it is. Can someone explain it to me, what kind of maintenance is needed (I would assume it has a lot to do with farrier work) and is it even worth taking something like this on? I've not got my heart set on this horse, just thinking about things.
"Perfectly Possible" aka "Romeo" is a true packer and jack of all trades. He has very successfully competed in eventing, dressage, jumpers and hunters. He has been used in a lesson program and was very happily leased out to a 12 yr old this season and an adult amateur last season. He stands at 16.1 hands and is 14 years old. He has competed up to Preliminary but has retired to teaching the lower levels. Also competed up to 2nd level dressage with a previous owner. Uncomplicated ride with automatic lead changes and forgiving of rider error. Very sadly offered for sale as his owner is moving away for college. "Romeo" is worth his weight in gold because of his experience and personality, but he does have ringbone and continues to be sound and compete with maintenance. Very sadly offered for a quick sale as his owner leaves to college this fall. $4000 firm to an approved home where his needs can be taken care of. "Romeo" will be competing in JR Novice at Coconino Horse Trials this week.
By the way, in the comments it mentions the price is negotiable.
