ok so some might know about my mare i had that was stolen and how i found her... all was well the lady took her off he market after i found her and she learned her story... well a post on fb tthat she just re did some of her website sparked interest in me and i wanted to go check it out and see what shes done different... while there i mosied on over to the ponies page... and low and behold lakota is for sale AGAIN! BUT!!! this time shes almost 2000 more dollars than last time?!?! what now that the horse has a full story you can sell it for more?? if im correct and i believe i am... you can not sell a horse you KNOW is stolen. or you could get in trouble too. now she knows this horse is mine weve talked about it before on the phone and in a couple emails. and some on fb too. she knows shes stolen and she knows shes mine. i had no problem with her keeping her and using her as shes all the way in tx while im still trying to get everything sorted with the "useless" pd in fl. but now it seems i have to call them, and trust me im not looking forward to talking to any of those rude and mean finger pointing "cops".
so now im at a loss... im not sure what I can do and what i cant.. but i know she cant sell a horse she knows for a fact is stolen without getting in trouble too. anyone have any advice??

Mo...not saying what she is doing is legal...or right...but another way to look at the situation...
You spoke with the woman currently in possession of Lakota some time ago. Once she knew of her background and story she removed her from the selling market. Now, time has gone by... Have you been paying board or any expenses on the mare that you can document? She could now probably claim she is selling her for back board due and miscellaneous expenses and be legal in this in the "eyes of the law". If you claim she is yours, then you also claimed the financial responsibility of her in the eyes of the law. At this point if you don't have a paper trail proving you have been sending money faithfully every month... not sure "the law" will stand with you on this. I'm sorry...
With all you have been through with her...this woman is looking for a nice home I'm sure...you now own another horse... maybe it is time to just ask her to keep you informed of what happens if she can, but let Lakota go to a new home that will also love her, ride her and take good care of her. If not, you owe that lady a whopping amount of money and the cost of a ship out of her barn to wherever you can get the mare to...then more $$ for her care monthly, for a horse in reality you will probably never see again. Reality sucks sometimes! I know it hurts, but consider letting it go...not the stealing part, those involved deserve to be dealt a blow... but the trying to prevent Lakota from being sold to another. In my experience, those spending many thousands of $$ for a horse, do take good care of them...want them...love them. Keep searching for Paris..he was the one that you truly had the bond with wasn't it?
I'm sorry...

well... there was never any mention of paying anything for her... and if she wanted to o that route then i could also say it was more like a free lease or i had agreed to let her use her for riding lessons and shows and everything in trade of board in a sense. because nothing was ever said or even mentioned or written down not paying board wont hold because she was also still using the horse. so in that case its her word against mine since she never asked for anything. also believe it or not... lakota and i had a great bond... in our own way. paris and i bonded while we rode... lakota and i bonded on the ground. i could get that mare to walk over/through anything and when i ground drove her she was tuned into my every slight cue. she was a pain to catch in the feild but would come over to me... just not if i had a halter of course right? lol shes a mare so we had our days but we talked better than i have with most horses.

Have you contacted the folks at netposse? They may be able to give you some advice about what this seller is doing and what rights you have. Best of luck and lots of !

I suppose she is using the fact that she has possession and you are in florida and she is in another state. why not offer to buy her? bring her home and your worries will be over.

I've tried using netposse before with no luck... its actually really confusing! ive tried a few times too...
and im not in fl now im back in MA which is how they were stolen in the first place. the lady is really nice so i havent said anything to her about it... i cant afford to just buy her... shes now 4k and it would cost another 2k at least to geet her here... shed told me a few times if i could get shipping i could have her back because she is mine and it was the lords plan to lead me to her (something like that) but i cant get the shipping together! i need a miracle to get that together... between what i make and pay for different things it would take me a LONG time to save up for the shipping of a horse that is now twice as far as she would have been! it really sucks... we fought a lot but that horse taught me so much.

Try on facebook camelot , and look up haulers and see if anyone goes to texas. i have numbers of people going to florida. and perhaps you can get a better quote. or i do hope the lady that is selling her can find it in her heart to explain the situation to the new owners (if that happens) and allow them to be in touch with them.
