Trixie took to her freedom like she was ready. Bella on the other hand took several minutes before she would venture out more than a foot or two then go back in the shelter and run and jump. Pearl came back into the shelter the third time before Bella followed her out into the lot. My smallest halter is to large for Bella. I have the 3/4" nylon webbing that I could sew one up using the hardware from an old frayed halter -- If I would get around to it. To give an idea of how small Bella is I am adding this picture with her nose at the water bucket.

Thanks but I have the new EX Small for the few day old foal but Belle is just tiny. She is so easy to manage I can move her around with a finger under he jaw without pressure. This morning both got cross ways to my kneed to be lifter on my lap. After being out all day tonight was a different story for Trixie. She wanted petted and go run and then come back to be petted again. They are both shut back in for the night. I gave the five small stallions baths yesterday. I clipped two that was not shedding out like the others. I cleaned their shelter and sprayed it for bugs. I wormed them and today two have the runs. I fed them separate tonight with oats to help dry them up quicker. They both need another bath. Today I feel like a 80 year old. Maybe that aint all that bad since I'm about 78.

16 Ds old and Bella has her halter. the little dickens is getting fat as a pig. I have no way of weighing her but when I pull her up in my lap she is harder to lift than Trixie who is staying slim and growing tall. Same dad but so different on stature. This camera does not do well but is a handy little thing.

Laughing as I type! There is no way to explain in words without a full video to properly tell how Trixie acts when I feed. I'll try though. When I go into feed now Trixie's mom Coco and Baby eat in the shelter. Kacie and Dollie have there dishes out side. While feeding Coco and Baby Trixie is running around the shelter. When feeding Kacie and Dollie Trixie is running back and fourth between the shelter and where the others are eating. After feeding I take the feed pail back to the trailer and then head for the rocker in front of the shelter. Trixie comes to meet me and walks in front of me and stops in front of the rocker. I take hold of her catch strap and we go thru the step up and turn around stuff. She then stands with her side against my legs to be picked up. She sprawls out flat on my lap and we rock while I rub her side, belly and legs. Tonight she threw her front back on my chest and her neck over my upper arm. When I put her down she stick close to me until I get to the gate. I can't describe all her little actions that show her love. It is more like Rusty dog acted when he was younger although he has taken to want to set on my lap in the last few days if I don't have my laptop there.
Bella is almost as loving but she has became so heavy it hurts to set on the rail and pull her on my lap. I did this morning but tonight I just played with her on the step up, turn and rubbing her. I did pick up both front feet three times each. Both are responding well to commands after showing them what I expect after a very few times. I think Bella is the cutest by a slight amount I think.

Bella is a big girl now. She can stand beside her mom and eat out of a dish.

Your mini horses make me wish I had a better vocabulary but "adorable" and "cuteness overload" will have to do. It's not surprising how fast they learn when you're out there day after day with all those little things you expect with kind reminders at the ready. Love the idea of having a horse in one's lap lol The first day I met Peaches she was laying out in the pasture and stayed laying down while her owner, a 17 year old girl, and I went over to visit with her and talk girl-horse-talk with each other. I have always thought that it might be easier for everyone if we taught our horses to lay down to clean their feet, certainly easier with a mini.
I can see your horses eat well too :-)
