When I went out to do chores The foal was running back and fourth across the pasture out close to the road. Coco her mother was trying to get between her and the fence to no avail. Dixie already has named her Trixie. Trixie ran into the fence and fell back twice and then ran into a tree. When Coco would get Trixie to stand still she would hunt every where from her neck back to her hind leg without finding a teat. Coco was bred in the second week in July and I was not expecting her to foal until some time in June. By the time I had new bedding in the shelter Trixie was nursing so I figure she could not have been born much before six this morning. I have not weighed her yet but she is 19 inches and quite thin. Very active though. I was not able to get every thing around with them shut up with water and feed until 10:30. Dixie wanted me to put pictures on FB before I went to the factory to repair a mold and then I had to get back and get some oatmeal into Rusty. I did get up and hold Trixie on my lap for a coupla minutes when I hauled the rocker up. When I started to get the shelter ready Dollie ran down to where Trixie was and came back on the run and circled the shelter kicking up her hind feet. She then ran back to where Trixie was and came back to where I was. When I was holding Trixie Dollie had her head over the gate watching. The rest of the horses were not paying any attention.

How cute is she.. so glad she decided to act like a lady and not continue to run around.. i do miss having babies here.. but without a stud and my mare are so old it is not in the future. so i shall enjoy the babies thru your eyes and posts.

I rocked her the 15 minutes this evening. She slept right up until almost the 15 minutes. I put her down and held her and rubbed her all over for another few minutes and let he go. She run around Coco twice and came over to my side and put her head over my leg while I rubbed her neck with my fingers. Dixie decided she couldn't make it up there this evening and will try tomorrow. I think Dollie would like to adopt her. She spends a lot of time up next to the gate watching Coco and Trixie.
