After hard work for a year, today we had a grad opening of our two stallions realising together on a pasture. My "new" stallion Slavko have been agressive toward my other stallion Conversano and we could not make them get along. They are both 12 and haven't had any contact until last year. My stallion was use to other horses and is polite in a herd. But Slavko have been always alone and seperated from mares and horses in general. Everything went fine, except few screams, they were happy and prancing Boys photo uploading

I give you tons of credit. for allowing your stallions to be horses. me. i am chicken. i have had two stallions fighting and it was not pretty to see my arabian on the ground and the tb on top.. and when the arab got up and i saw the bite marks on the tb the arab meant business. now i have a tb stallion and quarterhorse stallion and they live alone.. sure they are in and out of the barn and can see many horses but be with them.. no.. i am not that brave.
your two boys look happy and i am sure they will be fine.. they are stunning.

Thank you Jo, it was hard work behinde this scence of them together. Slavko needed some basic work, he was not socialised with other horses. I have no problem putting Conversano with mares, but Slavko no, he will jump even on ones that are not in heat. I like them to be as natural as possible. Of course it not something that is easy, so I don't blame you for being afraid.

I know you worked very hard with Slavko so that he could become a happy member of the herd. It can be very difficult to socialize stallions, especially with other stallions and I can understand HL why you prefer not to put your two together.
I was lucky that Mister seemed to like the horses I put him with, with one exception. At one point years ago, he was pastured with another, young stallion (he was a stray that showed up at my house). They got along fine once the herd dynamics were worked out until I bought Cowboy (a gelding). When I put the three together, Mister was very aggressive towards the other stallion and I ended up having to separate them and give the young one away (I never really intended to keep him for long anyway).

It can be dificult. More with breeding stallions that are breed most time of a year. They can be pushy and full of hormons. At the end it is all about how you teac them adnd how you work with them. In a wild they would fight and weaker one would run away. Here they all have to learn how to live together.
