This introduction is a little late, but better late than never, right?
For Christmas this year I got a gift for myself... a new kitten! My daughter and her boyfriend were over on Christmas Eve, and while they were here my daughter's boyfriend showed me some pictures of little 4 month old kittens for sale on Craigslist. Two of the kittens were black with little white bibs, and they were so adorable that I just couldn't stop thinking about them, especially since I've been wanting a black cat for quite a while now. Hubby told me to go ahead and call, but I don't think he thought I was really going to do it. Surprise! After phone calls back and forth, I was finally able to pick up my new kitten 2 days after Christmas.
So, without further ado, I would like you to meet Midnight!
This picture was taken the day after we brought him home.
Settling in nicely.
He's just so cute! Too bad none of these pictures show it very well, but in addition to the little white bib, he also has a little white tip on his tail.
When we first got him home he had terrible fleas, worms, and ear mites, and he was much too thin (his little hip bones stuck out and you could easily feel all his ribs). We've since gotten rid of his fleas, dewormed him, cleared up his ear mites, had him neutered, and we are getting some healthy weight on him now. Midnight joins our family as one of our inside cats, much to our dog, Lexi's, disappointment. lol Midnight and Splint (my pure white manx cat) love each other and play together all the time. Cali, our calico cat, still hasn't fully accepted Midnight, but she's slowly coming around. I hope that eventually all 3 inside cats will be best buds.
Here are all 3 of my inside kitties together. Splint, Midnight, and Cali.

What a handsome fella. and it is amazing how people put animals on the web that are in the need of critical care. I adopted a dog a few months ago and she was in horrible condition too.. it shows on his little face that he is happy and healthy.. .

What an adorable little kitten! Kudos to homey for letting you call and get him, it sounds like he really needed you. Splint and Cali are cute as well. Keep us up to date on how they are all doing!

Congratulations! He's adorable. It's beyond me how people aren't embarrassed to sell kittens that have fleas, etc. But perhaps the people were in a bad situation as well, you never know. At least they were willing to do the right thing and get him a home that can take care of him.
He is so cute! And now your other cats have a new playmate. Cats are funny little animals.
Enjoy, Val

Oh he is a cutie! I do hope you won't ever think we don't want more pics. There's no such thing as too many pics!

Enjoy, Val I know, I would be mortified to sell kittens that have fleas and are as skinny as Midnight was, but at least those and all of his other problems are behind him now.
Since this was an ad on Craigslist and I had to pick the kitten up at the people's house, I made hubby come with me. We were both appalled and more than a little nervous when we saw the condition of the house. I know it probably sounds terrible, but we looked at it and said, "Deliverance House".
We got to see Midnight's mother when we arrived. She was a beautiful medium/long hair calico cat roaming around outside (and she was also too thin). When we asked the guy if that was our kitten's mother he said yes. He then went on to tell us that this litter of kittens was her 6th litter since he rescued her and brought her home. He claimed that he was hoping to take her in to get her "neutered" soon. Sadly I have a feeling that she will probably continue to produce litter after litter of kittens, even though there are low cost options available to those that qualify. :-( I just hope that everyone who got a kitten from these people will make sure to get them spayed or neutered, but unfortunately I have no control over that. I'm just happy to have my little guy, and to know that he is now happy, healthy, parasite free, and neutered!

Once my friend who worked at the local deli, asked my husband if he would be interested in doing some electrical work for another customer who came in the deli. He said fine and called the man.
Well, we were going out someplace so I was going to wait in the car while he went inside to give an estimate. As soon as we drove up, we knew it was bad. Everything was overgrown, the blinds were all closed and broken, everything looked really dirty and unkept. Before he went in, he said no way could he do work there. He did go in, and the man was very nice, but my husband said it was like you see on those hoarder shows. Newspapers piled 4-5 feet high, with 1-2 foot paths that snaked through the rooms. He said there were extension cords all over, under the piles of papers, what a fire trap. So my husband told him, he really needed to get rid of all those papers and clean the place out so that someone could help him. And he gave the guy a name of an electrical contractor in the area.
I haven't been past there in a long time, I wonder what happened.

Sounds like it was a good thing that you came along, and good that your husband agreed not to do work there.
We were not invited into the house when we picked Midnight up (which was fine by me). The guy brought Midnight out to the front porch and promptly closed the door behind himself. The outside of the house and the grounds were bad enough. I don't even want to think about what it might have looked like inside. :-(
