Katie has been here for a week. Well if you count the night she spent out on the creek. I am so thankful that she survived, and sought help the next day. All the rest of her nights she has been cozy and warm, under my covers. Well except for the other one that she spent at the vet, but at lease she was warm.
She has really become a part of our family. She and Candy play, and it has been two whole days since she has had an accident in the house. She has made such a positive impact on our house. It's amazing how much joy a little unwanted dog can bring to the right home. We are so lucky she chose us.

I picked Katie up today at 3:00, from the Vet. She got all excited when she saw me, so that made me feel good. They didn't have to pull any teeth. Once they got all the scale off of them her teeth looked really good. As soon as she got home she got right back into her routine. Go outside go potty, come in get a treat, then sit on my lap or curl up in a chair in a blanket. She doesn't seem to be upset at all, and is eager to learn a new way of life.
I am not against kennel training, but keeping a dog in a kennel for 9 to 10 straight hours, is not good for their mental health. That has been Katie's life for the last few years. She was in her kennel all day, then out for a few hours, then back in all night. She probably spent almost 20 hours a day in her tiny kennel.
She has only been in a much larger kennel two times since she came to live with us, and that is only because I discovered her car manners are horrible. It is very hard to drive with a dog trying to sit on your shoulders, so to make the trip to the vet safer, she had to ride in her kennel. As far as I am concerned, she has spent all the time she needs to locked in her tiny prison, and she deserves to be free, to live her life without bars. So far we haven't had a problem, and I really don't expect to.
She is an amazing little dog, and I am so lucky that God has allowed me to me a part of her life. I do not believe God allowed you to be a part of her life, He put her in your path, He knew exactly what He was doing. Not allowed, meant to be.

Kate has been mine for a month, and, she and I have developed a strong bond. I think we came into each others lives at just the right time. We both needed something, and the other fit the need.
I am having a horrible time dealing with depression right now, and I am pretty sure the prednisone makes it worse. Katie helps so much, by getting excited when I come in the door, and jumping into my lap, anytime I sit down. She follows me around the house, and cocks her head when ever I talk to her.
I am really glad we found one another.

DG - I'm so glad Kate is helping you through a hard time in your life. Have you seen someone about the depression?

So glad the little pup is your strength.. BUT please talk to the dr about how the prednisone makes you feel.
my friend was on it for her ra. shoulgrins,(sp) and other things. and she stopped the prednisone. as it make her think crazy thoughts and it makes her feel like a zombie. she gradually decreased the dosage every couple of days. and now she is taking aleve and tylenol. she finally told her doctor and he said she sounds and looks better than before when she was on the steroid.
hope you feel better. and hug the puppy

I have never hurd of those medications. Or that someone takes them here. I can't understand how doctors would give something with so many, dangerous and common side effects. I hope diamond you get better soon, and I strongly belive animals are best therapy. I am glad you both found each other, it was ment to be.

So sorry you're having a tough go of it. But I totally get how a dog and especially one so doting would help with your spirit. I hope you get around to following up with tour doctor and tell them all about how you feel. If they don't know they can't help. Good luck
