Today is indeed a sad one for the horse community everywhere.
Andres Rodriquez has lost his life this afternoon it is reported after a car accident this morning in Wellington, Florida. A passenger in the car, Sophie Walker, also a well known equestrian perished at the scene of that car accident.
Andre was a newlywed of 3 weeks and leaves behind his wife... Sophie leaves behind her husband....
RIP for the both of them. Condolences to their family and friends... ....

Details are beginning to emerge, to be spoken of....
Said they were at the Palm Beach Polo and Country Club grounds, the car hit a concrete pillar. It was the very early hours of morning... Sophie died at the scene and Andres died at the hospital. Both were young and rising stars in the horse world.
I know Andres had qualified for the upcoming Olympics. He was one of the best riders in the world. Approachable and a great showman, fun to be around and not the "typical" horsey elite... Andres had just been married a month. He leaves behind a wife, now a widow.
Sophie Walker was a upcoming "amateur" equestrian in her own right. She was married, a business partner with her husband, Brian in two successful horse barns that trained and sold world-class show horses. They had locations in Kentucky and another in Florida I read... Comments are now emerging that alcohol was a factor.....sad!
The golden ring they both had, such young lives and so much going for them...now taken away forever.
Please....don't drink and drive. Don't tip the scale more in the direction of death or injury a possibility behind the wheel of any vehicle.... Driving today is dangerous enough....
