Ming - you said you are down to 4 horses. How many did you have? Sugar, Reno, JR, Geno? is that the 4? I have JR, Reno, Sugar and Rawhide. Geno was Tony's horse and he sold him. Sugar is still an iffy. But the other 3 will never go anywhere.

Way to repurpose the materials left over from the tornado How deep did you sink the main, structural, posts? Did you concrete them in? Didn't you also buy a HayHut for your round bales? Very nice way to develop your property into the horse farm you want I'm hoping we are putting our wrap around porches on, in the next few months. Waiting to meet with the architect, he's busy until December. But hubby and I were talking,.., construction will put other stuff on hold for awhile. Might not get to travel this spring,.., oh well, porches are worth it to me!!! They are 2ft down and concreted. We have rock!! Yes I did buy a hay hut. Love it!! Not as much waste as the traditional hay feeders. The bale buddy was ok but didn't hold up. I would love to have had a house with a wrap around porch. But we got what we could afford for a retired couple. I didn't need a big house either. I hate cleaning. I really don't need a fancy farm just a good useable one. The only things I want to get done is finish the fencing, get another section of land cleared and get my enclosed barn. By then I'll be done physically!! But I will be able to watch them from the back porch. At least Short will have a nice place when I'm done. It will be hers when I depart this world.

Its taken me 10 years to get my house with a wrap around porch,., and I haven't gotten it yet either. But a few steps closer We had the architect draw up preliminary plans years ago,., then the economy went to crap, so we had to wait and take care of the other properties that bring in income. All good things take time,., 95% of that 10 years was convincing hubby it was TIME. He was getting every penny we 'paid out' for these ugly decks, before he would consider ripping them off Good luck with your run in shed!

Didn't get to much done. He finished what ever he was doing on the roof and I think he got 2 or 3 pieces of tin on the roof. I think Tony and I will work on it now that the first pieces are up there. Tony said he can do that. But it may be a few days now. We have rain and suppose to have flooding in some areas.. So it's on hold for now. It was a cold day yesterday so I stayed inside. No need for me out there. I did get this pic.
May I make a suggestion? You might want to run a 2"X 4" from the end truss peek brace to the bottom of the next truss on the same brace. If you were to stand on the top of the roof now it would be shaky from one end of the peek to the other. It can be done on the bottom of the rafters going from top to bottom flush also but takes more 2"x 4" 's to stop end to end movement.

We plan on doing that. We (myself & Tony)just wanted him to start the tin. Once the weather clears we will continue on. I have to go get more materials. This rain won't be out of here till Wednesday..

It sure is not easy to get things done with limited work time on home outside projects with changing weather. We had good weather Saturday and Sunday which let me spread 16 loads of manure and set a gate post. Back to the factory today with good weather outside. I took a wheel mold apart and ready for an insert change in the morning. Then get home not feeling well so all I got done was chores. I did bring home 11 bales of hay. I hope you are able get the tin on this week. Here is seems like while the weather is keeping us from an outside project and the weather clears, several new items have popped up that seems to need done before we can get back to the one that was stalled.

No it isn't. Especially with shorter days. More rain through tomorrow. Wed. is sunny but rest of week and weekend cloudy and in the 40's. So don't know how much we will get done. Once the roof is done the rest will go up faster with Tony and I doing it. I will probably order the rest of the materials this week. Since they have to order the tin for the sides.

The roof should be on this weekend. Then I talked to the guy about giving me an estimate to put the sides on. I will probably order the materials Thursday. I'm tired of messing with it. I'm just about ready to give it all up.

I'm just about ready to give it all up. All good things take time. I haven't officially finished my run in yet either and its been a year. I still need to fix 2 pieces of wood and stain. It has rained both Sundays that my friend could help me,., so its still a 'work in progress'

The roof is on minus the one panel they didn't give me. The rest of the materials came today along with the roof panel. So all is ready I think. The guys will be back Saturday to finish it up. But now they are calling for rain this weekend and turning colder. But the rain may hold off long enough for them to get it on. Then I guess I will put the plywood on for the wall lining myself. After that is done then I can move the electric fence back, hang their feed buckets and then they will have a roof to get under if they want to. I'll be glad when it's done. It's been nothing but a thorn in my side.

It will get done. one nail and board at a time. and perhaps the rain will hold off. as long as the roof is on than the rest is easy.. perhaps these men could help with the sides too. just to get it done and out of the way.

The guy I found is a full time trucker. He has 4 boys that works with him and his wife hooked us up. I love this guy he is a hoot and tells ya straight up! They work well and get it done. The roof would have been finished but the lumber place shorted me a sheet. I have all the materials now. I just got a call from him and he said that they will be here early Saturday and should have it knocked out in 1/2 a day. I'm just hoping the rain holds off like they say. So hopefully I will have a nice run in shed this weekend. If I sell Sugar it will be deep enough to put 3 8x10 stalls in it. I have the materials for stalls already. So it may be all I need for awhile.
