My Grand Son has my horse hay stored in my 99 year old mothers barn. I stopped in to see her when I got a few bales last Friday. She insisted I drink a cup of coffee and have some of her home made cookies she had just baked. Mom lives alone and only has one of her grand kids stop in a couple times a week to take out trash and do a load or two of laundry. In the old farm house the washer has always been in the basement. Dad put the dryer in the garage so he could install it close to the fuse box on an outside wall by himself 50 or so years ago. As long as I can remember Mom has baked cookies from scratch without recipes on the counter. After I had had a couple bites of the cookie she ask, How do they taste? What can you taste in them? I can taste anything any more and I was wondering if they were good. I told her they were very good and I could taste peanut butter, cinnamon and a slight caramel. She then related that she had received a bag of Payday candy bars for her birthday and couldn't eat them so she chopped them up and mixed them into her cookie batter and added cinnamon and ginger. She said, people that stop say her cookies are so good and since she could not taste well anymore if she should offer them to anyone. I ate three with my coffee and told her they were winners. I never heard her give her cookies a name but they were always very tasty. No recipe here just a story.

Aw, bless her heart. We don't have Payday chocolate bars here that I've heard of. What's in them?

Payday is caramel with tons of peanuts stuck to the outside. and if you find them and decide to take a huge bit. well do not. they will lift your fillings out of your teeth. but are wonderful snacks. it is one of my favorites.
