I have a book that has some interesting ones in it but I'm wondering if you guys have any ideas for them? I had a dog that said I love you and mama. It was easy to teach because he already made the sounds that could be turned into that. If a dog doesn't make those groany noises already and isn't kind of a chatty dog I don't think it can be done. Our dogs do the basic things like shake a paw but nothing unusual or cool. A friend of Heather's has a pitbull that nods his head or shakes it to say no. I've been trying to teach Brodie to nod his head but it's not working so far.

Hubby loves to bring out the unusual antics of the dogs. he taught one yorkie to sneeze on command. he would hold out a treat and actually sneeze when she did and say the word. and shake his head up and down. after a while all he had to do was move his head and she would sneeze . now he is working with our new dog Bella on teaching her to sit up . and woof for a treat. so far she has it down right. her legs go straight out instead of bending at the knee and when she wants a bite of my food she will just do her trick. you pick out something each dog love to do and tell them the word to associate what they are doing with the word. it is fun. smileys-dogs-171634

That's what I'm thinking! Something they already do that can become a trick.

Sweet Pea is a smart girl. I never really tried to teach her tricks. Everything she does she basically just did it. She will sit pretty, shake both paws, say please, backs up, grunts, high fives. She knows the difference between her toys. She loves her ball and her pig. I tried to teach her to roll over but she didn't like that idea. The other 2 will sit pretty and that's about it.
