I'm so glad to hear that your mom is working hard with Genie! I think they will get on the same page about things before long and he will be great for her.

I also agree with LDs statement about it being easier to teach a horse to go faster, than slower. Its also sooo much harder to undo that kind of negative 'training' wag finger LOL, Whoa Dammit! (< thats an old joke about a horse's name  ). |

My mom and Genie have been working hard at continuing to build their relationship together. It's actually really nice to see! I went out to the farm yesterday (first time in wayyy too long). Kinda surprise popped in type thing and My mom had just brought genie in after working her in the driveway and by the road. It's actually nice to see that my mom is doing ground work with her a few times a week. We then tacked up all the horses; I brought friends so one rode our boarder's horse "Chuck" (my friend April knows his owner and she wants my friend to ride him more), an other friend rode Ollie, I finally rode sheldon again.. So refreshing and mom had a great ride on Genie  We didn't go on a trail ride or anything just played around in the outdoor but it was cute my mom got Genie to trot a couple times and then we got April to get on Genie and got her cantering a couple rounds before we finished. They still have a long way to go but they are definitely improving! It was really fun to see my mom held Chuck while April rode Genie.. She was doing ground work with him lol she was having so much fun making him lunge in a circle and run around with her!! LOL |

That is awesome! It is nice just to mess with the horses sometimes and have fun. Our horses are supposed to be FUN!

I'm so glad to hear your mom is having a great time, even just doing ground work. That is what will set the relationship between herself and Genie and it sounds like it is working! Good for her.

When I am imaginative instead of wishing I could ride instead I have fun with ground work. It is a safe way to bond and communicate with your horse. So I'm glad your mom is truly enjoying being with her horse. Sounds like she and Genie are benefitting from it. Yay!
