My Casey came down with another UTI Sunday. I have to give him a pill once a day (not a problem, he normally doesn't realize what I've done until it's too late) but have to give two "liquids" twice a day each. The first is a urinary acidifier which is supposed to be palatable to cats (and dogs) - yeah right. Luckily it is really sticky so I just put it on his paws and let him lick it off. The antibiotic is what is causing me some headache. I have to give 1 and a half dropper-fulls twice a day. I have tried wrapping him in a towel to prevent my hands being shred to pieces but he usually gets a paw out as I am refilling the dropper and it is just a huge fight. Good news is that Casey is now urinating almost a normal amount rather than just a bit here and there. However, I have never seen him in so much pain before. I still can't touch his abdomen without him screaming at me and he just seems so, I don't know, uninterested in anything. If he is still this "out-of-it" tomorrow I will call the vet to see if we need to give him more pain meds. He is walking around a bit this evening. I will see if he is interested in his daily can cat food later - last night he could care less about it. In the meantime, does anyone have any other suggestions for giving liquid meds to cats? I have to do this for two weeks!

When my cat had to have meds the dr said she needed it twice a day , yeah, right, me and godzilla had to hold her down. so i boiled liver and ground it up with the juice and put the meds into the liverl i used chicken livers mostly but i also gave her beef. i think the liver made her better and after that bout of uti i just cooked her food. and used a low ash low magnesium dry cat food if you feed him any fish at all stop. the magnesium in the causes uti and stones. hopefully your cat does not have stones, they are painful and will cause the blockage of the urine

Have you tried just picking him up and popping it in when he opens his mouth?
Usually when you pick a cat up by the scruff and lift it off the ground it'll yowl a bit just enough to pop a plunger in!
Cats are horrid to give Meds to, I don't envy you:(
Oh, those cat pill pockets might work, some cats love them and you can put liquid in them too:)

Yep, that's how I do it. I grab the cat by the scruff and make them stand up on their hind legs while I hold their scruff. The second their mouth opens to complain, in goes the plunger! They aren't happy about it, but it gets done.
