This morning Tony, Short and I started the clean up of the paddock area where most of the barn was. It took us a few hours but we got all the wood picked up and all that is left is a pile of good tin, 4 trusses, a pile of trash, and some tin from the roof that CJ is going to come up and get later. By tomorrow the horses can have that area back. Which they will like because there is some grass out there.
So this is what we did this morning
Before we started
Now
The tin from the roof that CJ will get.
Lint's truck full of good lumber and post
So now we have to unload all the lumber off the truck. Then go back out and pick up the good tin and then go back and get the trash tin and put it up in the upper field and after we get done and then take it all to the recycle and get some money back for it. The trusses I have left (5) are 24ft wide.So I called my excavation guy because he is building a barn and if he can use them I will tell him make me an offer on them. And then have him knock that off my bill when he levels a new site. So taking a break now. Gotta go to town and pick up some feed.

Believe it or not most of the screws are still intact. We will take a magnet out there and run it over the area. But from what we have seen it just ripped the tin from the screws and any nails that were in the boards are still in them. So I think we are good on that note.

I love that even thought it was a loss you will get something out of the building. I know!! It has made a Lil Red Barn and there are enough post and boards that we can get the framing up for the new 10x10 well house. We even had the thought of adding a lean to on the equipment barn. But I think we will do the well/pool house first. I told Tony we need to get back on the fencing. We still have more to get that is out in the back section. So that will be more 2x's and tin. There is a truss out there too. But it will take more to get out as it landed in trees. And of course it snake time so we have to be careful of copper heads.. EEKS!!

So looking on the bright side of the tornado damage. you are getting a chicken house/ pig pen and a new barn. alot of hard work going into all of that but when it is all done you can collect the eggs and process the pigs and your horses will have a great big new barn.

I hope so HL. We have a tad more to do to the Lil Red Barn. Then we really need to put some post in and hang 2 rolls of wire. Then go back and rip out the last of the fencing in the upper section that is worth less for pasture. It's nothing but rock. So that will be about 30 more post and a good line of wire. It may get us down one side of the field. Then I will buy more T-post each month then when wire comes up on sale pick up a few rolls. I'm hoping to have enough money together by the time we get to the last line of it. To have it cleared before we get to that last side. I'll be so happy when all the perimeter fence is up. Then I can start getting it cleaned up and get some grass growing out there. Best part will be that I will be able to see where the horses are at all times. I do plan on having the new barn by October. Be the bestest B-Day present to me. I'm ready for my Washington trip. I need a break from all the stress of losing my barn and busting ass to do what I have been doing. But even so it is good to look back on what we have done so far with this place. Even had some people stop at the end of the driveway and tell us that we have really made it look good. After I get back from the trip. I'm going to take Tony and myself for a weekend of camping. I'm going to go somewhere that we haven't been. Change of scenery..
