I don't know. I try to be strong, but I rarely succeed. It used to be easier. I love him, it is just that I don't like him. If that makes any sense.
Lip the different letters you use, got me to wondering. 
I think your English is awesome, but I never thought about you having to use entirely letters, and a whole different alphabet. Then I started to wonder if the computer keyboard and the position of the keys is also different if you're typing in Croatian.
I use a qwerty key board, and I have never thought beyond that. I just figured all keyboards are the same. (how undereducated am I!!) I have never thought about all the differences, that might be involved when you learn another language. How do you type y, x, and w, if they aren't even on your computer keyboard? How do your fingers remember where to go, if when you are typing in English, you have to use a different keyboard? What does your computer keyboard look like?
I have always been in awe, of people who can speak more than one language. I tried to learn a little Spanish, but I forgot the words, about as quickly as I learned them. Now I have learned to speak a little cat, but my poor horses have had to learn to read my body language, rather than me being able to use my body language, to communicate to them in a way they can easily understand. It must be so frustrating for them. |

Yes keyboards are different, the position of the letters are not the same. On my phone I have english and croatian keyboard, but on my pc keyboard there are added up x,y,w because english is so spred around the world we have all adjusted to you. I don't think of it like I am special because I can speak several languages, it is just we are small country and a lot of countries are close to us so we have more need to learn different languages. Why would you learn more then one language when where ever you go, every even little bit better educated person can speak english. I still make a lot of mistakes in spelling and grammar I can see that when I read again my post but you understanding me is the most important. I speak much better then I spell :-) only my accent is funny.
I understand when you say you love your husband, but you dont like him. There are a lot of forms of love. You are a very strong person and I admire you being able to keep it together and live a life as normaly as you can.

Please don't change the way you spell things!!!!!  When you spell things the way they sound when you say them, I can almost hear your wonderful accent. English is my first language, and I certainly don't spell things correctly. Plus we have so many words that sound the same, but mean different things, and are spelled differently, that I get confused on too.
I think you are great just the way you are, and I really enjoy reading your posts. You have invited me to share your world with you, and I am really enjoying the journey. I am really thankful for HA. It has given me the opportunity to have friends like you, and everyone else who comes here to chat, and share, and learn.

I agree Totally with Diamond. Here in the US we all speak English but I tell you there are differences in local dialect and idiom that I have a hard time understanding. I visited England and I couldn't understand them! LOL. And then there is techno speak for the different disciplines. You know the words but the order that they're in and how they use them is so very odd. Oh and then there are politicians who can say absolutely nothing but sound as if they have the world in the palm of their hand and they agree with you and are doing quite the opposite all at the same time.
When I was in graduate school I learned to think, speak and write in a particular way. Then I graduate, get work and that language wasn't useful. I worked for the federal government which is all acronyms and is rather political. Now I'm working at a local government level and its a different culture, language and application of what I learned in school and my previous jobs. It felt like I knew nothing at all and couldn't speak worth a darn.
When I get here I kind of type close to what I think LOL Like you said Lipizzan, you folks pretty much get what I mean so it's good.
Which makes me think of an odd thing about English. If I want to say "it is", I say "it's" because it is a contraction, must like "do not" and "don't" but if I have something that belongs to someone I have Susan's chair. What in the world is that?!

hug.s especially because when you talk about it have possession it is "its" rather than "it's". English has way too many exceptions to the rules (and exceptions to the exceptions). |
