I'm sure you all know how some people are born with a horse in their heart. It is like this huge empty place inside of you that can only be filled by, true love from your equine soul mate.
I think my first word must have been horse, and my first horse was a little white rocking horse. We rode for miles and miles across the country side, and as far as our imaginations could take us. At that time of my life, all I had for horses was my imagination.
As I grew, my horses grew taller too. I built them out of everything I could stack to make a real sized horse, and more than once my horses came crashing down. x_xI guess you could say I had horse related injuries, before I had ever, even been on a horse.
I have never gotten over my love of making things up, and having more horses Yes even the home built, imaginary kind, still hold a special place in my heart.
When I saw those little horses that Ming has the pattern for, my imagination went out of control, and I just had to have one.
So I would like to introduce my new house horse, Sprout. She is a pine timber horse, and I think she is house broke. A few days ago she was a cross rail jump, but it was time for her to evolve. Sooooo here she is,
My new girl, Sprout. laughing
Oh, and yes I have ridden her for only a few minutes, when she was still out in the garage, but as soon as I can get the saddle screwed to her back, so I don't fall off, we will go off on an imaginary trip, to Dodge City, and have a talk with Marshall Matt Dillon.

I know how you felt about horses. i used brooms. mops. chair arms and backward chairs to practice on and my parents had to bring me to live pony rides every weekend. and Sprout looks like a wonderful heart horse. enjoy her.

Aww Sprout is pretty!! When I was a kid I begged for a pony. One Christmas morning I had my pony. Even thought it had a stand and springs attached to it. I rode that thing all over the house. Mom use to yell at me that I was going to scratch up the floors. I even taught him how to rear!! Anything that I could make a horse out of I rode! Once we were at the county fair and my mom though I got lost and had the police looking for me. I was fine. They found me at the barns with the horses and on top of somebody's horse that they gave me a ride on. Mom was afraid of horses because he brother was killed when one flipped over on him. But she got use to the idea that I was going to have them. She always told me you should have been a boy instead of a girl. I said girls ride better!!!

Mingiz quote; ""I said girls ride better!!!"" I love it. My mom put my spring horse outside, because I kept scratching up the floors too. You know if you bounce, while throwing your weight forward, you can actually get somewhere.
I am just wondering. I know quite a few "girls" (still at heart) who built horses, out of what ever was at hand, but I don't know a (boy) who has ever admitted that.
Did boys, ever build horses out of chair arms, benches, roll away beds, and saddle shaped tree limbs?
You know I have a tree limb, over on the north side of my property, that hangs low, and is a real pain to try to mow under, that I just can't remove, because it would have made my 4 year old self, a perfect saddle horse, to ride on. You know it doesn't really embarrass me to say, YES I have tried it out.
Holy moly, I just had another thought. Wouldn't an adult sized, spring horse, be the most awesome piece exercise equipment? Get on, bounce it all the way across the room, or yard. How many calories would that burn? laughing

Me too, me too...all the crazy stuff I used and built horses with, jumps, corrals.... I can just see explaining in the ER my injuries from falling or getting bucked off today if I did what you have done diamond.... smileys-multiple-smileys-651015 "You did what? On what??? A wood horse....."
"Psych patient, we need an eval...." "I am NOT crazy, just love horses!!"
Yup, I had my own homemade horses too, so did my sister. I was always horse crazy!!
My dad gave up...he finally took a wooden saw horse, made a metal frame for under it and fastened wheels... I rode that thing everywhere. He made me a "saddle" from a padded wood frame and cloth over the top, stirrups were heavy rope with solid wood bottom and strong securement, made a wooden neck and head, a rope bridle and painted the entire thing many times over for me so I had different horses {actually when I wore the paint off}.
Every Christmas for as long as I can remember I ran to the front window to see my new horse tied to the tree....sadly, no never happened. Finally, one spring morning we went to see some horses & how much $$. That was the day my parents not being totally ready for this to take place had my horse come home the next day.... He was the best and kept me out of trouble. I had to keep all my grades above a B+ average {85+}, do chores and babysit to help pay some of his keep. No special barn, I took sole care of him..he ate before me, barn was spotless clean, and he was so loved...he was my heart horse. I have never found another that touched my soul as he did... Today I have 2 in my yard...one if I let him would possibly become my horse but he belongs to my hubby...and is his horse, you can tell. I look for one to call my own, but my search will continue as I search for that elusive connection that you just know is right...and I won't settle!

wow, what a nice thing. I think that my first word must been horse (konj) too. I love horses since I can remember. I use to ride my bike and pretend I am galloping on a big white horse. I always wanted a white horse and prayed to God every night for one. I guess he liked me more then I knew because I got not one but 9 horses hehe.

Yes me too! I had a bouncie horse but it was on a stand so we didn't move anywhere unless I really got going, which was a big no-no. I also had one of those sticks with a plastic fiber filled horse head and I rode that EVERYwhere! But the best were the plaster horses in front of the grocery store, where for a dime you could gallop across your dreams. I don't know how old I was when I first rode one but I remember it feeling like I was going to come off. I wasn't very balanced yet on my own feet so I was kind of scared BUT being me and I still am that way I only wanted to ride again! :DI was lucky enough that summers the Girl Scouts would bus us out for weekly horseback riding lessons. And then in high school I got my own horse but like a lot of folks was horseless until my kids were older MUCH older. But my bike as my horse and I was an Indian or a Rancher's Daughter, I could imagine all of the houses away and be out on the prairie or in the forest. I'll never forget how thrilled I was when I rode out as far as I had ever gone out of the city limits, crossed the highway! and found a hobby farm with a horse, a REAL horse! And of course still when I'm a passenger in a car, I look out the window and pretend I'm riding a racing horse. I LOVE HORSES! smileys-flowers-548267

Oh I did that out the car window too. Imagining myself on a gallant steed, galloping along the side of the road, was thrilling, and sure made the miles go by faster. My imaginary horse could run, and run forever. It was so much fun to figure out whether I would run him across the bridges, or run through the water, and whether I was going to run right by the car, or out in the field. Oh such fun memories.
I wonder if that is why we are all such friends here. We are all completely horse crazy, and have been since the day we were born.
I need to get busy and make Sprout some ears. One of there days I am going to need my hat back, and I don't want her to be embarrassed, or to feel incomplete.

Lipizzan, it just tickles me no end the similarities we all have, the common language (although you are speaking ours so thank you) Hey, would it work at all to start a thread Lipizzan where you teach us Croatian? Simple phrases.

Simple phrases. She is teaching us Croatian. Lip said "nema kruha bez motike" or no success without work. Keep up the good work." copied from her post on the Peachie Plan.
Now if I only knew how to pronounce the words.

And Diamond, you have a beautiful home! I love the lace and flowers contrasting with the brick and wood. Gosh! IF I get to keep my job and WHEN I find a home of my own, I'm going to steal all these ideas from you folks and make my place a homey home.
Sure I have a home back with Gerald, a new house we built in 2010 that I designed actually. But I'm sorry I hate to complain but gosh, he is such a slob, so messy, keeps saying he'll tidy but not too much. And he cleans once in a while but like to impress someone, but not because he wants a clean house. Do you know what I mean? I understand its not his thing and I'm the home maker, I get that but its just a place to me, it isn't home-home because its so ugly with the mess. I have quit cleaning when I go home on weekends, that is so unfair to me, but I do clean up after myself so that its not like I come home, he cooks for me and then I don't clean up. That isn't fair to him.
*sigh*
I have so much and I am so lucky, I hate to complain but there it is; gosh, I want a HOME, am I making sense? Do you understand?

I absolutely understand.
When Honey and I first married, we lived in his house. No matter what I did, he would want to change it. I know he wasn't saying, this is my house, so I say where things are placed, and what things we will have. He just doesn't think about anyone, or anything, but himself. I never felt like I was home there.
I thought I would feel different here. This is my house. I bought it with my money, but it is becoming the same way it was in the other house. His oxygen concentrator. His oxygen bottles. His canes, and walker and crap all over, so he can get around safely.
The den was still all mine. His oxygen hose was to short for him to get very far in there. Then he got a new oxygen guy, who came to the house, while I was work last week. Wouldn't you know, the idiot connected another hose, so now Honey can get all the way into the den. He wants me to get him a stool so he can sit in front of the window and watch the horses. But I don't want a stool in front of the window. >:(He has invaded every other room in the house. Leave my den alone!!!! wag finger
So, yes I think I can imagine what it must be like for you, when you go home. You are going home to Gerald's house, with his mess, and his food, and everything is placed where he thinks, it is most convenient for him. It must be very hard, to feel like a stranger in your own home.
I don't understand why men seem to think they own everything, and they can mess it up, and re-arrange, and never once have to consider our feelings. Then they get all offended if we let them know we don't like it.

Haha you wrote: hay needed hoe beside. Those translators are not so good in grammar :-) Oh well, at least I'm amusing you and its so fun to see totally different words. Is Croatian written using the same letters that we use or different ones? Diamond; gosh, how sad. This is how I would handle that, just sayin... "Honey, you may have a stool in front of the window but only when you're sitting on it, otherwise it has to go back here (some place NOT in your den). If he says anything you simply say, "This is MY den and it will be how I want it". You don't have to say anything else. If you keep repeating the same thing he'll quit asking. And I'd also add, "If I find it in front of the window or anywhere else in my den, then I will give it away or sell it and keep the money. There will be no second chances, no excuses. You don't have to like it, I don't really care. This is how it is going to be." Its too bad when a husband has to be treated like a little kid. I've been there, it sux. You definitely deserve, you definitly NEED your own time and your own space. This is not wish for, this is a real thing kiddo. It is not negotiable or to be put off any longer. Just Do It *swoosh*!
