My cousin's dog attacked my chihuahua tonight. I can't tell if Silverbell is okay because even 30 min later, she freaks out when I try to touch her. She's not bleeding, but she can't put weight on her leg and it looks dislocated. Closest emergency vet is over 2 hours away. My equine vet is open tomorrow. She sees dogs too. They will be paying the vet bill.
I'm still shaking. I was just falling asleep when I heard snarling and my chihuahua screaming. I ran out and had to pull that bitch off my dog. I dragged her to the closest kennel and closed the door not realizing that the side door was open. She got out and went attack Silverbell again. Got her locked up again but I can't tell how badly Bell is hurt. She's laying on the sofa whimpering.
Sciras attacked their old dog a couple of nights ago over food. He had a nick down to the meat on his head and a couple of scratches but their other dog had joined in the fight, so they aren't sure if it was Sciras or Chloe who had actually injured him.
This time, there was no food involved and none of the other dogs were anywhere near them. Bell is 6 lbs with only 3 teeth in her mouth, so she's not much of a threat. She's almost 11 years old and sleeps on the top of the sofa most of the time. The damned dog's head is bigger than Silverbell.
I don't know why she attacked Bell.
They aren't home tonight but tomorrow, I'm telling them the dog has to go. I am not going to have my own dogs attacked and hurt in their own home for nothing. I am not going to risk my child getting hurt because their dog is unstable. I've had enough. They are looking for a house since the other sale fell through, but I'm not taking the chance that someone gets hurt while they're trying to find a house. The dog has to go. They're lucky she's not laying in the back yard with a bullet. I'm still angry and upset, especially since my poor dog is shaking in the corner of the sofa crying any time she tries to move her leg.
Please keep Silverbell in your thoughts. ..

I will be for Silverbell, but IMO, both the dog and the cousin need to be gone NOW!!!

The dog will be gone tomorrow. Cousin is not home tonight and my Godfather, who is her father, is in the hospital with a suspected stroke, which is the ONLY reason the dog isn't gone tonight. She will be gone tomorrow. Cousin has 2 weeks to find and get the process started on buying a house. After that, she has to find another place to live. I'm done. I've had enough.

Oh I am so sorry that happened. I'm sure you didn't get any rest last night either. That just throws you all off. My suspicion is that you will have to end up having to take Silverbell to the regular vet anyway. Poor Silverbell! Sometimes bad things like this give us the push to put an end to a situation. I think they crossed your line. Thinking of you and Silverbell kisses

I am hoping by now Silverbell has been seen by your vet and is OK, just bruised and traumatized.
Not only should that dog be gone it should be dead! I meant DEAD too.... A dog who attacks unprovoked is very dangerous to other animals and now to humans...
DO NOT LET THAT DOG LOOSE ON YOUR PROPERTY OR IN YOUR HOME.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR EYES OFF ROS EITHER WITH THIS DOG AROUND.
There are no excuses and no more chances for this animal...
And your cousins have now surely worn out the welcome mat again.... No more excuses or time extensions left for them either.
Time for your home to be yours, Greg's and Ros by yourselves!!

The dog is gone. Don't know what they're doing with her yet and don't really care as long as mine are not in danger.
The vet said Bell is one incredibly lucky dog. She's seriously bruised on her belly, leg, and back, and had one small, shallow puncture wound and a second shallower nick, but she has no broken bones or signs of internal bleeding. The vet said with where she caught her, she doesn't know how she managed to escape with so little injury. I think it was because she caught her against the sofa, so she couldn't really get a good grip on her and she was thrashing with her as opposed to biting down, which would have crushed her.
She was given a shot of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory and I have to give her a dose for 7 days of the anti inflammatory medicine. She said to have my regular vet evaluate her when I go for her shots but suggested I wait for 2 weeks to give her immune system a chance to bounce back.
She has cataracts in her eyes, which we knew.

So glad to hear the dog is gone, and that your little one is going to be ok! Sounds like Bell is an incredibly lucky dog!

Poor Bell. I'm so happy to hear that she is ok. This sounds like the last straw.

Glad Bell is as free of injury as she is.
Sadly, this is not going to be the last time that dog attacks. Animal or human it now has a "taste" for it. My understanding is once this is awoken in a animal it continues and usually ends in a bad way for those caught by the animal and for the attacker itself...many times with a bullet. By me... You have a dog that attacks other animals, he is dead. Kindly shot, if shooting is kind, but it is one shot and they are gone. Ranchers here can not afford to have a animal attack their livestock, their herding/working dogs nor their family members and workers...dead, they are dead.
Now, you only said the dog is gone...It is time for all of them to be gone. No more time to free-load off of you and Greg...they have worn out their welcome a long time ago. Stand together with Greg on this one. They have to the end of the month to get gone or throw them out...enough is enough. Really!! It is not and never has been your responsibility to provide a roof over their head, feed them or anything else.
Get them gone. Stand together with Greg as a unified partnership and tell them "OUT!"
Now that will indeed be a great Valentines Day celebration... Your home with only your family in it...Greg, Ros and you!!

Thankfully Belle is gone. out the door. and now you need to assess the other people in your household. enough time has gone by, i hate to suggest anything that is none of my business but they are there over a year as i recall. just think of the peace and quiet and being able to grab your hubby on the couch for some play time without others standing in the way. And regardless what happened to the dog. good bye to it.

Glad Bell is ok. I would have shot the damn dog!!! I agree with HL4L. That dog is going to hurt another animal or human. You certainly don't need anymore drama. Yes make her pay the vet bill too!!!

I get the money to reimburse me for the vet bill on Thursday. Monday they're supposed to see if they can get approval for the loan. If not, they will be finding another place regardless. That has been made clear already.
As for the dog, were she mine, she'd have been dead that night, quick, painless, and final. I don't play with vicious animals. At least she is gone from my home. Bell hasn't moved from her spot all day poor baby.

This is why I never leave different sized animals alone. It is far to dangerous, especially because prey instinct does sometimes kick in.
I wouldn't label this dog as vicious. Especially after working dog behavior for so long!
