I hate to say "owning" an animal but being the primary care giver (rofl) never is a burden, never gets old. Can get scary, is expensive, but is always an honor.
And as much as I love my dog and appreciate our cats and of course am in love with my cows... a horse, they are so elegant and amazing... wow, wish I were more eloquent, but I have no way to type what my heart feels... even when they are bucking and farting at me

Honestly, I love my job. I work in long term care with geriatrics but if I had to do it again I would go back and upgrade to RN and work with neonates (of course my daughter being born 3 months early has a lot to do with this one!!) I still love my job regardless. I love talking to residents and knowing I can make their day just a little bit better by either listening to them, saying hello or simply smiling at them It's not an easy job and there's a huge workload put on your shoulders. I like the saying : keep calm and carry on. Honestly as a nurse/nursing student you have to live by it! At the end of the day you'll be thankful for all the teachers that where hard on you lol they give you a fraction of the stress of the work field. If you ever need help or have questions feel free to message me!

Hello from Michigan, I rely heavily on my health care worker's, from my CNA (aide) that help me be able to remain in my own home, to my Dr's that work together to maintain my health, and to the LPN'S, and RN's that REALLY run, and manage the entire "show", that the Dr's get credit for...

I agree 100% 1fm, we have a wonderful aide for my mom 24/7 and it's a difficult job. We appreciate her greatly and show her that often.
My friend who just got her RN is having a hard time finding a job. Everyone wants at least 6 months experience. She's is actively applying everywhere and is hoping for her big break! It's always hard to start out until someone gives you a chance.

I ran into the same catch 22 when I changed careers so I volunteered here and there while I was looking and every little nook and cranny. It worked. Everyone can say what they've done like it if they haven't done exactly it.

So great to hear everyones experiences, and opinions. I really cant wait to finish school and begin my career. I helped care for my grandparents when they were dying, and from that point on i just knew what i should be doing with my life. Im thankful I got to spend so much time with them, caring for them in their last stages of life. I know it wont be easy, but i feel it will be a very rewarding path
