LOL, I shock my cats as well this time of year. Maybe a humidifier would help put some moisture back in the air?
Casey's learned to live with it, Sophie no so much.

I have the same problem with my cats this time of year. I hate it! The poor things look at me like I did it on purpose. We tried a humidifier last winter. It helped a little, but the static shocks didn't go away completely.

I have a humidifier but it's not helping, if we turn it up the windows start frosting, oh well guess he will just have to hate me for now!

Spray with hair spray. or wipe with hair conditioner. I was afraid to try putting something on them because they lick themselves so much. I didn't know what would be safe. I am shocking mine too. I wish they made a safe, anti-static pet spray.

I can understand that. i use hair spray on the horses to prevent static shock with taking their blankets off. and they do not lick, my second thought would be to rub the cat. or dog with oil. perhaps olive oil. just a bit on your hands and it will be good for the coat and prevent static shock, i tried it on my cat and there really was no grease and static

I asked at the pet store, they do get bottles of spray conditioner for cats that helps but have ran out, I dknt really want to rub oil or anything on him, he already has that super slick grease spot at the gland part of his tail and with him being a Tom cat it's more than normal cats, his coat is nice and soft and shiny and I'm worried if I put stuff on him at some point I will have to bathe him and with his dodgy heart I'm scraed to, he's good for shaving his pits and tummy, bum etc as I've done that since he was a kitten but I never bathed him.
Apparently I have a lot of static in me too, when I go shopping and take a cart I get static shocks as I'm pushing the trolley, I use my forearms to push it sometimes as it's so bad, yes I get funny looks lol!

Omg. I have such a bad issue with that. I get static shock from almost everyting. Closing car door, taking of my shirt, touching elevator button, tv...

I spray Static Guard on my truck interior and what ever I'm wearing.. I helps with static. With the horses I spray the blanket. It does help..but you have to reapply..

Oh this might be my imagination, but I haven't noticed as much static after I started using Gain detergent and dryer sheets.
I work in a maximum security building, so I have to press a button on the wall every time I want security to open a door, and I have to be buzzed through a lot of doors. Wearing a long lab coat and walking to door after door, I was building up a lot of static, and getting shocked every time I pressed a button. This year I haven't had nearly the same problem with the buttons. I really hadn't thought about it, but I wonder if the Gain isn't making the difference. Come to think of I haven't noticed the same lightning storm when I crawl under the blanket at night either.
Darn, I sort of liked the nightly fireworks.

Lol DG I used to work in the same environment . I was leaving the computer lab and before I even touched the door handle it shocked me. Had a little bolt flash out of it. The guy that was behind me heard it spark. Needless to say I had a few choice words. So I started spraying my work chair and myself with the static guard.. I use dryer sheets too but still get the static.

I always put a little lotion on my hands when the cats jump on my lap- just the very very minimum it helps with the shocks!
