I am busy all day. fetching stuff like stove peletts. the mail. banking. food. diesel . gasoline. you name it i am on the road fetching. i also take care of barn stuff. horse food. hay. grain. watering and basic care of the animals. yes i even feed the dogs. and make sure the water bowl is full. oh and the cat in the barn needs food. since i am so busy i use the crock pot and my oven has a timer and shut off so i time the food so it cooks long and slow. WELL the person i share the house with. and yes he does help me with the house chores and barn stuff and of course make the repairs. says during chicken and potato that i cooked in the same pan in the oven that he is tired of crock pot and one pot meals. Beef needs to be cooked and potted or he can not chew it so i make pot roast or beef stew. i also do pork tenderloins and pork steaks pan friend. oh and pasta he can not have because of the sauce that gives him acid. perhaps i will open a can of macaroni and cheese and see what he says. I suppose this is a vent but suggestions are needed and will help. campfire

To be honest I get sick of crock pot food too, I'm assuming he can't have spicy foods as that opens up a whole ton of suggestions?
I like making pork schnitzel from pork tenderloin, big or small pieces, easy to prep and just shove it in the oven, does he like rice?.....I make basmati with chicken stock and saffron and a little turmeric which is optional, it's tasty and easy to make and re heat later:)

Well, I'll say flat out, that I'm not the best cook. But no one has starved yet. Maybe he's just tired of the same ole thing, I get that way sometimes too. Of course if my hubby said that, I would tell him to start cookin. :>> Maybe something different like chicken soup and a grilled cheese, or lentils and carrots with a little ham, sloppy joes without too much sauce that bothers him (or you could just cook up chopmeat with onions/garlic and whatever spices you like), fish, or a quiche. I just bought escarole because I've had a craving for escarole and cannelloni beans. I'm sure you'll think of something, just make sure it's something you like too

We all get tired of crock pot meals too. But one of my favorites is lasagna in the crock pot. It is easy and tastes just as good as what is cooked in the oven. I do the chores at our house most days and in the winter it takes me longer usually 30 minutes to feed horses and steers etc but if I have to water (hauling out hose reel and such) it takes 1 1/2 hours. I try to do meatloaf on those days since it takes so long to cook.
But we do also do a lot of quick dinners as well, fried sausage and potatoes, biscuits and gravy, spaghetti.
One thing that my husband has finally learned after 20 years of marriage is that planning and executing meals is hard! If he wants to complain then the next meal is on him. I always told him food always tastes better when someone else does the cooking and clean-up - and by jove! he finally gets it!!!

I love calf liver, can't find it here, I have cow liver, it's ok, restaurants do a better job of cooking it, hubby did it once for me but it just wasn't the same, I'll try myself next time:)

I made fried haddock sandwiches. as we finished with the horses late and he did not want me to go and cook a big meal. go figure... right? ld you might have to contact a butcher and see if they have veal liver. it is more tender than even calf. sometimes the markets process a steer that is over a year old and call it calf. i do not eat veal or liver. so i usually eat something else. campfire

How about doing Chicken Marsala? Takes about 20-30 minutes to cook, a few to prep... Has a sauce to put over noodles, potatoes and a veg on the side and a fancy dinner easy done.
I also use cans of creamed soups when I do chicken dishes. My hubby is not a chicken lover but it is healthier than beef, beef and more beef. You could also do deli thick cuts of meat, {ham, turkey, roast beef and corned beef} several slices with sides you make... a easy gravy and dinner on the table quick.
Also try Knorr sides (use to be called Lipton rice & sauce or noodles & sauce)...prepare according to directions then add chunks of meat, heat.... and a side salad, dinner easy. Do potato and eggs one evening...a switch up and quick. I just finished my spiral sliced ham this way...ham, potato and scrambled eggs, toast ** on the side for dinner. **this made me ...it is browned bread .. t*o*a*s*t........** Alfredo sauce...cook noodles, strain...add cooked shrimp...mix together and heat all together till hot with that Alfredo sauce. Parmesan cheese over the top lightly....fresh vegetables as a pretty side of colors.. Macaroni & cheese with hot dog pieces or I sometimes do meatloaf chunks....salad on side.
Yes, in my house we eat a lot of salad. Love fresh vegetables when I can get them.
Just some other ideas and a change up from crock pot meals... all fast and easy though for a busy lifestyle.

HL I couldn't eat veal, I just can't get past the way they treat them, feel the same about lamb too, I know, in reality it's all the same, corpse crunching but it's a mental block I have!

With Lint gone all the time I don't cook. I go to Short's house for dinner. So I had some sirloin in the freezer and decided to try my luck with beef veggie soup.. I must say I surprised myself. It's been years and I mean years since I have made it and everyone liked it. Had enough left over to make 3 meals I put in freezer for Lint to take back on the road if he ever gets back from the east coast. The only thing I didn't have to put in it was a bay leaf. But it had plenty of veggies and the beef was tender.. I did Good!!!

Way to go. you do not need bay leaf in soup. it changes the flavor to nutty and woodsy. i usually leave it out also. and tonight we has chipped beef on toast with white gravey and i made a fritta with zuccini . no time to make the chicken livers and bacon and i will do that tomorrow in the afternoon and just reheat later for dinner.

My chicken livers and bacon are done and will serve them later tonight for dinner as for the leftover chicken from the other night that he only ate a leg. and shared THAT with the dogs. i made chicken rice and spinach soup. tomorrow i am going to make (rouladein) or how you spell it. bracoli in italian. which is rolled beef that is sliced very thin with spices and a filling. with gravy. perhaps augratin potato also.
