I'm looking for a new item to clean the kennels as my pressure washer broke down finally beyond repair!
I have limited electrical draw, long story, the one I hd was 1900psi 1.7gpm motor 120vac 69hz
To be honest I could do with something a little less as it was forever tripping the panels and I'd have to go round turning stuff off before I could use it but of course I still want decent power but a little less is ok, I only have a cold water tap.
Any recommendations would be appreciated, under $300 please:)
Ive been considering a steam cleaner, I have a small shark one I bought for the house years ago and it worked good on some things but had no effect on others.
Anyone had success with a decent one, has to be able to run for at least half an hour so no tiny ones, I'd be using it to get rid of stubborn hair and dust, dead skin, poop off chain link bars mostly
Thanks in advance:)

Ld....excuse my ignorance to the steam cleaner but.... How is something that makes steam going to have the umph to remove stubborn hair, dust, dead skin, and poop? It puts out moistened air/steam but does not have a force of great pressure behind it does it? I foresee you doing a lot more manual hard labor with a steam cleaner and adding numerous hours of work time in addition to what you now currently do..
I thought a pressure washer would loosen, lift dirt and debris?
I would not not do a pressure washer.... I know what my husbands small electric one can do and can't imagine a steam machine in a price range you mention doing anything near the ability you need done. You need commercial sized if you need it for the kennel area, household one is not going to be powerful enough imo...
I found this one at Northern Tool....I believe they ship to Canada if not stores there already. www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200606583_200606583
I also found at harborfreight tools power washers in several sizes...they I know ship to Canada
Granger.com has several units in your price range. They are a global company so they should ship to you or have facilities by you too.
And don't forget Sears....they have several gas or electric models in your price range. Gas would allow you to go anywhere within water horse distance and not be blowing fuses anymore...
Happy shopping.

Hi:)
It's for inside a building so I can't really use the gas one(I have one)especially in winter as its too cold to open the doors to let the fumes escape:(
I went to look at some at Home Depot, the ones I wanted to look at that get good reviews were not on display, someone went to find them came back and said they are outside and buried and they couldn't get to them, so don't think they will be selling any lol!
Went to a couple other places, all were crap, I actually just ordered off Amazon a slightly less powerful one at 1800psi to try, it will be here Wednesday, good thing with Amazon is if I'm not happy they take things back easily.
Yes, in regards to the steam cleaner I think I'd have to go to a commercial grade one and those get pricey.
It's only a small building I have, just 20 runs in a 80ft x 30ft building, it doesn't get real dirty, I have 3 specific kennels I keep for the real messy dogs so,those are the ones that need the most cleaning, to be honest the rest just need the hair and dust blown off, takes no time:)

Steam is not going to remove hair etc. I would think maybe combo attack of a shop vac AND a pressure washer

I ended up buying this one, I see they've put the price up, I got it for $199 www.amazon.ca/Karcher-1-418-050-0-Follow-Electric-Pressure/dp/B00J00J0WK/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1420665821&sr=8-12&keywords=Pressure+washerI wasn't expecting much as it's less powerful and smaller than the one I had but I'm pleasantly surprised, it's doing a better job, it def feels less powerful, no kickback BUT as it's so easy to move around and the wand hose is more flexible and stretchy I can get right up close to dirt and saliva and it takes it right off the walls whereas the old one was so heavy I'd do what I could from the door then go in later with a bucket and brush. So for me it's working perfect, it also has not tripped the switch like the other one:) It's a little cheaply made as in it's attachments are plastic, old one had metal ones so I am going to wrap them in duct tape as I'm awful for dropping things on the concrete, these won't stand up to it, but for what I paid, very happy

The plot thickens, it's working at the house but not the kennel, I'll try again later, switching stuff off to see if it helps with power draw

Did you try it in a different plug in the kennel? Checked to make sure the breakers didn't trip? Sounds like an electrical problem in the kennels somewhere.

So it broke down again, I took it to house but it's totally dead now, shame as when it worked I was impressed, returning it via Amazon next week, just before the deadline, waiting before I order anything else, I can manage without for now

What a pain in the neck. Do you think it wasn't big enough for your jobs?

No I think it's just a lemon, I'm considering getting the same one, I only used it for half an hour twice, it's not big jobs just cleaning a couple kennels, no worse than doing a driveway, shame but at least it died within the months free return:)
