Instead of making a new thread for each CTR we go on, I thought I would just make one general thread. We are actually going on November's ride this coming Sunday. It is going to be pretty cool (lows in mid-30s, high around 55); it will be warmer Saturday but they are calling for rain so we are going Sunday. Anyway, I wanted to share this link to some pictures from the October ride. The bottom two rows on this page are Mister. This was a canter "obstacle" where we had to canter for about 20 feet then come to a halt (we are stopping in the third picture). I really, really wish my seat was better but there were 3 horses just in front of us and I was a bit concerned he would get out of hand (which he didn't). Not sure if I am going to order any of these. There was a non-pro photographer there as well and am waiting to see her pictures which I can print for free before buying any of these! scboatnerphotography.smugmug.com/Equi-trek-Oct-2013/i-nKJRbCnShe also got a great one of me and Mister before the ride - I was asking if he was going to be a good boy. I will be ordering one of these. scboatnerphotography.smugmug.com/Equi-trek-Oct-2013/i-5PGPcgDAnyway, I will let you all know how things go this weekend! rode-the-horse

LOL HL4L - I have papers, I promise he is a 1990 model! She is a great photographer, isn't she! I'll have to try to remember to look nicer when I know she is at an obstacle!

Thanks horse lady - he is a sweetheart! No one can believe he is 23.
We had a great day today. I put his blanket on for the first time in years for the trailer ride. I decided to go to the ride on the back roads as the winds were steady at 20 mph and gusting more than that - I did not want to be on the interstate with those kinds of winds. It was pretty chilly and windy on the ride. I decided to not wear my gloves on the ride - a very stupid decision but otherwise it wasn't too bad. Mister and I had a good time together, he actually wanted to trot on his own for part of the way. He did pretty good at all the obstacles and we ended up getting 1st in our division and reserve high point out of all the riders. I was so proud of him. I love my boy! kisses
Here is a picture of us before doing one of the obstacles and one with him and his ribbons before we headed home.

23 is a great age for a horse to be this active and he does do his job well. just goes to show an older horse is a pleasure to own. and congrats on the ribbons and for using your good judgment with this crazy wind.

Well we had another great ride this weekend. It was pretty chilly but I was dressed for it and only got a chill a few times. Lots of ravines, downhills, embankments this ride along with a bog and a sidepass obstacle. Usually after a ride, I can think about some things we could have done better. For this ride, I can not say that - I went over the ride in my head several times and I can honestly say that we did our absolute best at each and every obstacle (even the sidepass!!!!). And Mister's hard work paid off - we won first in our division and got the highest score out of all the riders that day. So proud of my boy. I love this horse so much. I will have had him 10 years come January. Mister says "are we there yet" - nope just stopping for gas! Whew, we made it! Actually this ravine is no where near as steep as some others we go through, it was pretty boggy though due to the weather and the fact that we were the last horse on the trail. Attachment DeletedMister showing off ribbons again. Attachment Deleted

You two make LA look like a wonderful place to live I'm sitting here in the library looking out on a couple feet of and I know that it'll get all icy on its way to melting in spring ~ *sigh* but you can keep the heat, I guess its worth the tradeoff. Mister is a beauty just like Buster was; I just love maturity

Thanks Lipizzan! I skipped the February ride - it was close to 8 miles over some really hilly terrain which Mister just isn't conditioned for yet. March's ride is too far away so it will be April before we compete again. I hope I get to ride before then though. We have been getting rain just about every few days. The water table is so high, nothing is soaking into the ground any more and it is just too wet to ride.

Gosh it's been forever since I have been on a CTR! I am signed up for the ride on Sunday. This one is at my limit with regards to distance (almost a 2 hour drive with the trailer) but it is a really nice place to ride and I only go there two or maybe three times a year. I'm a bit nervous about driving there this weekend as it is mostly interstate driving and it is supposed to be windy on Sunday. Mister's hoof seems to have healed with no abcess or infection (Thank God!). I'll try to take some pictures. I gave my son a GoPro camera for Christmas (he scuba dives) so maybe I can figure out how to use it for this ride.

Safe travels! Just found this thread and love it! When I get more confidence being back in the saddle, I'd love to do some CTRs around here. The ranch I bought Lucy from hosts one, so that could be fun! Keep us updated with lots of pics, and have fun!!
