Well you know I would.  We could do a general contest each month. People post pics and everyone votes for the one they like the most. Or again you can do a specific theme... |

I like the idea too. I don't go onto the other place anymore, and I thought the photo contests were fun. I love to see pictures of other places and other horses.

I'm a photo junkie.  I love to take pictures and share them, and I always enjoyed the photo contests on The Other Place, in fact it was one of my favorite things about The Other Place, so I would definitely be interested in doing something here. Maybe, if we have enough interest, we can start some sort of regular photo contests here. Where does everyone else stand on this idea? |

I read your suggestion and will take it under consideration. We will give it some time to have others input on this and perhaps suggest a plan so we can proceed.
when would you like it to start.?? that way we could give it a dead line of december 20 and start on jan 1 if anyone wants to organize it to get people to be judges than perhaps suggest someone or perhaps a member could volunteer to over see it. A photo contest would be nice.

I nominate Terry to oversee things...   Gee, thanks, Mingiz <insert a little sarcasm here> I have basically a full-time job plus 27 critters to care for (not to mention a husband and grown son underfoot every day, and 2 granddaughters underfoot every other weekend ), which is why I'm not on here as often as I'd like, so I don't know if I would have time to oversee things, but I'd certainly be happy to participate and pitch in when needed. 
At this point I'm just curious to see how much interest there is in the idea. No sense starting something like this if only a few people are interested in participating.

It is an idea that has been floating around for some time. I think mingiz says a overseer meaning someone to keep track of who is going to be judge and to just remind those that volunteer to judge are doing their job. I have been doing it on the other place cause no one has stepped up to remind and to ask for volunteers. and if you do oversee. you can still post those photos and be a judge for a month.

I am neutral to them. I like to look at pictures, but I am also lazy, and would probably only enter sporadically at best. Also (in the interest of being totally honest) would not likely ever volunteer to judge or oversee it. This is not to say it is a bad idea. A lot of people really enjoy them. Not sure if this is a helpful opinion or me just blabbering on the internet, but there it is either way lol |

I am kinda with Apollo, with the fact that I would never volunteer to be a judge. I know, I could never make up my mind, if I were to be a judge. I was wondering? ? You know how we have the like buttons. Is there a way, like they have on other things you vote on, to let every one vote? Or,,, I suppose the like button would work too. It's just that you can only hit the like button once, where, sometimes,,, I have liked a comment so much, I wanted to like it twice. :)Maybe we could have more than just one like??? Maybe a double, or even a triple like. Which reminds me, I need to run vote on George, and his SAFE rescue again. |

I like the photo idea, but not the judging idea.
Category, yes why not...but just contribute what you have say with a "spring" theme or "winter woolies at their finest"
I am not one to judge, I like all the pictures people have contributed...
How do you pick?...not me!

I think there are enough of us on here so that one person take a month and instead of 3 categories just put out one or two. as for an overseer that person is in charge of keeping the judges assigned for each month and reminding them of the month they have and making sure all the months are covered. that part takes 5 minutes a month to do. we have time to figure it all out. and the photos will be enjoyable if nothing else. i take horrible photos but i do love showing my horses and property.       |

How about ME for January...... I'll try "judging"....
If agreed we will do... "NEW"....in celebration of a new year.
New, ... any animal, whether newborn, new to you......
New, ... non-animal....a new dawn, vehicles, horse trailers....anything NEW that doesn't breathe, eat or poop.
Does that sound OK to everyone??? 
Being December is a busy month for so many and already underway, we will have some time to gather our selves after the holiday busyness and discover NEW around us... mini-graphics-christmas-714031

I think we should try it and see how it goes for a few months. If we are getting good responses then we could continue, if not, we can revisit the topic. January would be a good time to start.
I also think just one (or maybe two) "categories" for each month would be best while we are still a smaller family.
I will volunteer to organize if no one else wants to do it. I usually have time at work to get sidetracked!
