For two reasons. We came back from OK Saturday and Gerald stayed over and we went to see Peaches together on Sunday. It was in the high 50s, maybe 60s and the was melting. It was great, so nice and warm, ahhhhh. Brought Peachie into the barn to see how her tack fit, although I forgot her blanket. There was a gal there who is walk-trot-canter training a 3 yr old TB, whose name is Linda, for the track in Shakopee. Linda was pretty agitated so Peachie and I walked back and forth behind her to help desensitize her. It was good for the Peach too.
Then we went back to the mini horses and again, Peaches got so ANGRY, flattened her ears, squealed and turned to double barrel the precious little paint. Of course I corrected Peaches, my goodness, what a reaction! Never mind the mini-mule! We'll have to keep working on it. I thought it was pretty two-faced for Peaches to be ticked off at a mini, I mean, Peaches is only 14h!
Then we went to the indoor arena and there was a gully flowing down the driveway. Peaches jumped it so we zig-zagged that thing until it was no big deal. I really like it when have these impromptu lessons.
Gerald brought a lunge line so we could do more things. Peachie is fine going clockwise but not too keen trotting counter clockwise. She kept stopping and facing me hoping I'd tell her to change direction. Nope, you have to earn that change in direction, kiddo. But Linda and her trainer came in and Linda was picking up on Peach's energy so we played quieter games instead. There were these teeny little cones that I directed Peaches around to see how good I was giving her "away from me" and "toward me" cues. I got bored with that before Peaches did so then I had Gerald hold her and I picked up each of her feet. No hesitation, I held them for as long as it took to rub her legs all over, no problem at all... until the left front. Kinda sticky on that one but eventually we were good there too.
Then the piece de resistance, Peaches stood still long enough without a fuss so I got to hug her! I haven't really hugged her much at all since the move. It was heaven 320595Then for some reason Peaches pressed her forehead into my chest. Did that a couple times. Just as if she were trying to get comfort too. That really made my day, a big, big day.
I took a couple pictures but heck if I can find them on my phone, I'll try again next time with the iPod, it takes crappy pictures but at least I can find them.
