Just got home from 4 days of riding. First day there Tony and I went out. The 2nd day it was me, Lint and Tony. 3rd day it was me, Tony and Short. The first day was great JR was excellent. The 2nd day not so good. On the way back JR got a hair up his ass. All he did was jig and crow hop. He literally beat me to death!! My back was killing me and my legs were sore form holding on for dear life. I wanted to shoot him!! So the 3rd day I rode Rawhide in Lint's tucker. My hips/ lower back were still killing me but I took some drugs and went. We ended up doing 14 miles. Some of it was good trail and a lot of it was rock climbing. First time I have ridden Rawhide on trails. I was a tad nervous only because he stumbles a lot. But only once did he act up and that was because he kicked up a limb and it hit his belly and he threw up a buck. As he did that I had camera in hand taking pics from the top. Luckily I stayed on and didn't drop camera. But I have bulls eye bruises on each thigh from hitting the pommel of the saddle. So I feel like I've been rode hard and put up wet. After this weekend with him from now on I'm taking my good ole trusted Reno!!! I'll ride JR at the local trails. He does better that way. But that was the first time he acted so common... I won a rope halter with lead rope, a big tube of Corona and a hay bag for putting a bale in. As usual the fish fry was great. The owner dressed up in costume an scared the hell out of a few people he snuck up on. We had a camp fire and had smores with the G-kids. All 4 dogs were there. Molly and Squeak did good for their first trip out. So got home and unloaded the LQ. It's parked. Now I will go out and clean it out and winterize it. Anyway he are a few pics and the link to the rest of them At the top Squeak in sleeper Squeak and molly Jazzy and Squeak The owner and Ashley The gallery link mingiz.smugmug.com/Slabtown-Halloween-Ride-2014

As usual, nice pictures.
Glad you survived the buck-a-roo ride...me, I would of been gone and camera lost I bet.
Pretty country and looks like the leaves are really changing now...pictures don't usually catch leaf colors all the best I've found.
I do have a question since you mentioned saddles.... I saw a roping saddle today for sale. Nice saddle with a very large flat horn, strong shank portion of the horn and it didn't look like it was wrapped..Good leather, soft but thick and strong. Used but in great condition. My question though is are roping saddles usually a wider "tree"....I guess that is how I would put that. You had a Circle Y Park & Trail....it is what I want but hard to find by me in good condition and reasonable price. Do you think the roper would have the same kind of width tree or much wider to sit upon??? The "spread" of the gullet measured near exactly what I have on Michael's saddle and his fits the horse well, standard width tree size I guess. This seat is the right length...flat seat. I do have my preferred saddle under my radar.... I am on the wait list to find out if I can try it on my horse. There is 1 person between me and owning the saddle of my choice...in the meantime I saw this roper and made me wonder. I don't think I have ever sat in a roper except for a minute or two....

From what I have seen on roping saddles most are wide. I have seen a few CY's for sale on FB tack sites. They hold there value. I bought mine new for 750 but traded in a saddle on it. I sold it for the same. Are you looking just for a P&T. I'll keep my eyes open. So you want SQHB or FQHB? Seat size? Price range?
There are a few CY PT on horse clicks.com/ Seen one used one for 450$

I'm looking for 16", SQHB....
I have one not far from me...for that price range. If the person that was trying it to horse doesn't take it, then I will also go see, sit and bring home to try it on our horse. I know not to ever believe that one saddletree fits every horse...there are always variables in fit and comfort for man and "beast".
Thanks...I kind of thought the roper might be to wide.
There is something about the P&T tree that fits me, and my son, better than many others on the market today. I know if I buy a P&T my son is going to fall in love...he sat in the 15" brand new one that I passed on and said it was "very comfortable"...Brand new saddle, never used but 1x for $400...if I could of only fit with a smidge more room. ...was indeed a beautiful saddle!

Sounds like a rough ride, do you think it was the new saddle?

No it was JR being a jug head. He rode the whole ride the day before like a Cadillac and the next day he was good until we turned for home and he got a hair up his ass!! He has done this in the past. Reason I don't let anyone else here ride him. Even though the saddle slide back some it had even marks und they were even. It didn't slide back enough to hurt him.

Great pics and it looks like you all had lots of fun. Is that your new saddle on the paly (Rawhide, right?)? You can really see how tall the cantle is in some of those pictures but I bet you feel nice and secure in the saddle.

No MM that was Lint's Tucker saddle. I didn't ride Rawhide in mine. The fenders are stiff and I was already sore from the JR antics. So at least my knees didn't hurt. My sciatica was bothering me so I rode in the saddle that I knew he was use to. Which until he threw out the buck I was doing good. Now my thighs are turning purpls...The cantle on the new saddle is 4in. The one on the Tucker is 5in. That one is hard to get a leg over!! This is JR in the new saddle Rawhide in Tucker
