Well I decided to sell her. Billie isn't strong enough to handle her. Plus she would rather ride Reno. So I put her on craigslist as a package deal. Her western tack, cart and harness. Had a man call me and said he would buy her if I delivered her to Springfield. Of course I said yes. So tomorrow morning Mel will be headed to her new home. Never thought she would sell so fast at what I asked. But one less to feed and now if we can just sell Libby. Plus one less stall I will have to build. If Libby sells before winter I will have extra room in the barn to have a feed room. But I don't see Libby leaving any time soon.

You know I was wondering about her as I knew you started driving her, sorry it didn't work out, ponies are a handful, people think they are good for kids but the majority aren't!

The kids had no interest in her. Myself I didn't have the time to drive her as much as I thought I would. So I decided to see if she would sell. I had one lady in Oklahoma very interested. But wanted me to meet her half way. Not worth my time to hook up the stock and drive 3 hrs. Another wanted less than I asked. Told her I had more invested and the price was firm. Then had one that wanted to trade a smaller pony for her. Then a neighbor wanted to come look at her and asked if I would trade her for a fox trotter. Told her no I have 4 of tem in the field now. Then the man called me this morning for his son and his son wanted the package deal. I will have to drive 80 miles to meet him. But that isn't to far and I would be in Springfield. So I agreed to meet the son. She will make a good pony if an advance kid rode her. Her driving wasn't bad. But at this point one less head to feed is good. Now I don't have to buy her a winter blanket or build her a stall. So I can use the money for more stall materials. I have the post and board and I'm going to use hog panels for the partition between the stalls. It will be perfect...

Wow, what a difference! She sure looks much better now than she did when you bought her. I'm sorry she didn't work out for Billie, but I'm glad you were able to sell her so quickly.
I'm confused, though... you mentioned something about selling Libby too. Isn't Libby your daughter's horse? Doesn't she ride anymore?

On Libby. Jess has decided to sell her because she doesn't get to ride because of her work. Feels that it isn't fair to Libby. She is to good of a horse to just set in the field. Plus we have Reno as back up if she does want to ride. It's her decision not mine. She said maybe later on she will get another but for now she would rather sell her.

Makes sense, and I can totally understand that. Good luck. I hope you are able to get her sold before winter.

Mingiz - I sure wish you were closer than the 9 hours away. One of my riding friends MFT mare suffered a hind leg injury (in the pasture not sure how it happened) and they do not think she will be able to handle hills in the future. Joyce is looking for a smaller mare to replace the one that is injured. Joyce is in her early 70's and rides 2-3 times a week with her group. Just not a lot of gaited horses up here - the ones we have looked at have been sky scrapers!

If she is interested and would be willing to pay for fuel cost or could meet me halfway. Only if there isn't a storm on the way.. wag finger I would deliver her. Something to think about. Then we could meet!!! Libby is a sweet mare and nothing bothers her. The only flaw she has is she wants to go back to the herd if taken out alone. But just gets testy with turning around nothing else, a good rider can manage that.. She doesn't have a mean bone to her and loves to be loved on.. She is a great trail horse also hasn't refused anything. My daughter is a green rider and has done well on her. after a little coaching from me on the wanting to go back to barn or herd..
