So the ad's not so funny but the price...... He looks like a cute, honest jumper and maybe the market isn't so bad in ID?

He's probably a packer. Gets the job done and is safe and very predictable doing it. He's big and the right color....
The video was not loading very well for me...nervous and jerky internet tonight here. What I could see though did not impress me. Knees were not always popped up and squared but dangling a hoof quite a few times, looks heavy on the forehand and near every fence he went over he wrung his tail.... For the price they want ...well, not for me.
But a children's hunter and a packer....he is priced accordingly and is what the market pays...

I like him but 40 grand?? Okay, I know very little about the jumping world so this might sound stupid. Why is the rider's butt not in the saddle as the horse is loping? She's getting about 3 inches of air every time he strides. He looks very fluid. Is this a jumping thing? A bad rider with her feet jammed in the stirrups? A rider that can't sit the canter? I've watched plenty of horses jumping but I've never noticed this before but then I'm usually watching the horse, not so much the rider.

The rider is riding a two-point position. Also known as a jumping position or half-seat...you ride in it between fences and as you start a over-fences class and canter your jump lines. It allows you to be off the back and the "motor" {hind-end} to work more freely. Her not sitting is because she is not driving the horse forward to the base of the fence but timing each stride. Hunters is supposed to be a very pretty pleasing picture of effortless team of horse and rider. No noticeable cues given. The horse just goes at a even pace, even take-off and landing distance at every fence. The quieter the rider the better....the judging is actually on the horses way of travel and presentation...
Based upon that...he is a nice animal but I wouldn't pay that price for him. I can't tell you all I see, but I see a lot that bothers me in my gut...

I couldn't get any pictures of him, just the video. Thanks HL4L, so she's riding him properly then?

I didn't like him, he is heavy on the forehand and not careful looking in front, could be as fences are small but he looked too robotic to me!
In the UK, I used to do equitation jumping, it looks like what this is(for us hunters is rustic fences and huge and less cosmetically perfect for the rider), equitation classes are about both you and the horse looking what they think is correct for the entire course with good fluid and rhythm, this horse and rider did show this by UK standards but the rider would lose points with any judges I know as she was very stiff through the arms imo!
NHG, yes her butt bugged me too!
I would never in a zillion years pay that for him though!

Perhaps 5 grand never 40, he looks like he is being shown on the down side. meaning he is used to working over higher jumps and now is showing lower. he looks choppy but i think the rider is the cause. not a smooth passenger. a little heavy on the seat and hand. and the horse is pinning his ears and looking strained.

He looks used up, attitude pissy and a possible sore mover.... or just sore someplace with that particular rider astride. He is not a happy camper.... Feet hit the ground and ring that tail. Not one fence did I see him square and pop up those knees, ears perked forward in anticipation, rounded back and nice cadence {rhythm}.
Children's Hunter....not in my book!
Choppy...hit that one hl....again!
Think the pricing is better at $5000 too, after a COMPLETE vet check and pre-purchase exam.
