Aw, they're cute but I won't get attached!
Question - why neuter them if they are just going for meat? Does the testosterone make the meat tough or something?
I know you don't think so, but that is a really pretty picture. Do you get bluebirds in your nesting box?

Not sure why he did it. Maybe 2 males together wouldn't be good. I will ask him when he comes over for coffee tonight. I have never seen a blue bird in the box. Just those little brown birds. We do have blue bids. I think they are in the bird house that is out in the pasture. We hare having another storm this morning. This one is suppose to be high winds, hail and slight chances of tornadoes... think by Wednesday it's all suppose to be out of here. I hope so I want to go camping Friday!!!

Awww, the poor little guys look a bit frightened.
I can't get over how clean your piggy's look. I understand they will be harvested for their meat, but it looks like they are being very well taken care of until they make their final journey. All animals deserve kindness and respect, no matter what their purpose.

Thanks DG We do take good care of them. There pen gets cleaned every other day and we put sawdust down. When we put a round bales out we usually peel some off and they get that to make a bed out of. Yes Tony takes good care of them and has them tames. So it will be easy to load them when the time comes. They were scared yesterday and then had their little gonads removed. They are much better today. They seem to be pretty calm for babies. They are eating well, so that is a good sign. I'll get better pics of them soon. We probably won't get anymore until next April. With Lint gone most of the time I can't eat all that pork... MM the reason for the neutering is that, if not the meat is stronger and gets stringy. The first one we had was very good and tender. I can say that I have never been accused of having skinny animals...They all look like me!!! Chunky...

Gotcha! Kind of what I thought.
What do Baconator and Ham Hock think of the babies? Glad to hear they are settling in well.

Well when we got them off the truck and Tony carried them to the pen, the little ones were screaming. The other 2 were grunting and upset from the screaming. But once everything was done. They settled down. They are separated but all is well. It was funny all the horses we at the corner of the fence being nosey with the truck there. Then when Tony came across the yard with the screaming pig. All of them took off like a bat out of hell. It was funny. Then they were all up at the pen checking them out. But when the little ones were screaming the horses were lined up about 50 feet away just watching. They probably thought they were next..

yup, un neutered cattle/pigs do get a "gamey" taste, and the meat is more tender/less muscular. where i worked we castrated baby pigs by 10 days old , and on a different topic ... pigs squeal really, really loud!!
