You know there I am banging on about how much Id love an Icelandic horse in the future, my dream horse but in reality I actually do have my dream horse, Daxter is perfect in so many ways, he's small, the smallest horse or rather pony at 13.3hh, a connemara pony, not a breed I ever craved or thought about owning and I came into buying him on a kinda spur of the moment oh heck just buy him although 1 he wasn't cheap and 2 he was very underweight and 3 he had signs of navicular and 4 the seller was scared to lope him!
Ive been riding him almost daily recently, he's prob along with you lot the only thing keeping me alive right now :)
He is amazing in traffic, our road is crazy right now, they are putting a pipeline in and there's wagkns hauling super long loads and he doesn't bat an eyelid and they are passing us each ride about a dozen times along with 30 plus trucks, have to say all the works drivers are really good, worst are the locals!
Dax reminds me of a guys horse I rode back in scotland, she was a mare, skinny tb polo type, only 15hh, I loved riding her, she had too high a head carriage but was bouncy but controllable, Dax is the same, he's a prancer, bounces alone the road, he goes if you want him to too, he has pony attitude, which I love!
He has his faults, he has his ears back a lot which took a lot of getting used to, it's just his way, I used to think it was bad attitude but it's not, he spooks at silly things but his spook is a jump right up in the air, I feel completely safe on him, I can't wait till I have an arena to start jumping him, that will be fun too.
I love this pony and am so glad I did buy him:)

I am glad you have such a great bond with him. Every person should feel the same way about their horse.

Dax sounds like a dream. I know I could never ride Diamond, or Chief beside my road, and we don't have that much traffic. Maybe one reason Dax is so good, by the road, is because while you are riding, you are transmitting confidence. True, he is a good horse, but it takes two to have a successful ride by a busy road.

Awww. Dream horses are never as good as the real ones. Its like their "faults" are the spice that makes them interesting, and sometimes, as odd as it may seem, its exactly why we love them rather than like them. I know it works that way with boyfriends
