If horse training is an improvement program for the horse, simply trying to find a trainer is getting pretty Zen for me!
The "smelly" guy who was supposed to take all three horses mid-May; not so much, gosh dang it. Blah-blah-blah reason, bad weather, off schedule, whatever! But the gal who trains horses and lives near my home can take ONE horse in June. Then she says she thinks she needs to come over to my place and check them out first.
OH FOR PETE'S SAKE!
THEN I call what seems to be a very professional place and they aren't in business anymore and in fact left dead horses at the arena owner's place!!!! Can you imagine? Unfortunately some of you can. Well the arena owner lady recently had her left knee replaced so she can't help me but we did have a good chat which gave me two ideas!
1) Interns at the University of Minnesota's equine program need horses who haven't gone through the program, and
2) I'm going to spend the money and buy corral panels for a 50ft diameter round pen for the back of the house, those three-step plastic steps AND one of those riding vests. Maybe that will give me more confidence?! Gerald won't help me, he gets too pissy, but he did agree to sit on the back porch and be with me.
3) There is another trainer near home, they have certifications and three trainers at this place so maybe they'll work out.
Maybe one way or another we'll get this done... sheez
