hi everyone I am new to a forum, so if I do something dumb please let me know. I live in Millbrook, NY with my bf, 2 rescue pit bulls, a rescue cat, and my niece's puggle (she is in the military so we are fostering her dog until she is sprung). I have been involved with something very important to me. I have been trying to find my horse from when I was younger. I gave her to a girl when my parents split up and sold the horse farm. She promised to keep her, but she did not and she sold her. below is the story. please let me know if you know anything about this. thank you.
I know this is a long shot.....
Around 1985 I had to give up my horse Tara when my parents split up and sold our horse farm. I gave her to a girl who promised to keep her, but later sold her. Luckily, I found Tara again (and her newborn filly) in 1990 at a horse farm in Putnam Valley, Putnam County, NY, called "Perry Farm"; owned by Diane Janecek. There is a gentleman who worked there named John Coyne. Though I still could not have kept Tara, I was glad she was healthy and well taken care of. Please note these pictures are from 1990.
In the early to mid 1990's, Perry Farm closed, and John remembers transporting Tara and her baby (who would have been a couple years old by then) from Perry Farm in Putnam Valley, NY to a horse farm somewhere in Schoharie County, NY (or the border of a very nearby county).
He cannot recall exactly where, so unfortunately, I have since lost track of her.
Tara is 3/4 Arabian, and was about 10 years old at the time (her birthday is Memorial Day). Her coloring is a very light dapple grey/almost white; she is on the small side, just under 15 hands. She is smart, a bit headstrong, and feisty. Tara had just given birth to a chestnut foal named (at the time) Sabrina (please note the distinct “half moon” shape in Sabrina’s blaze above her right eye). Sabrina could have greyed out like her mother, though (as Arabs often do), and of course it’s possible their names were changed.
Like I said, I know this is a long shot … and it has been a long time (they could be anywhere) but I still have to try to find them. I realize Tara has most likely passed away, but I still (very much) need to know either way. (Tara would be about 35... but her mother lived to be 37... good genes). On the other hand, Sabrina would be about 23 years old, and I feel there is a good chance she is out there somewhere.... So something inside me is tugging at me to try to find out; and it hurts not to know. It is a terrible feeling not knowing where they are.
ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. Even if the people have moved or died, I would still appreciate the names of ANYONE you know who has (or had) any Arabian mare(s).
Please ask all your horse friends...
I would like to offer to the owner that I would gladly give either Tara or Sabrina, or both, a home with me if there came a point the owner could no longer care for them; or I would just like to know Tara and Sabrina are safe and happy.
Thank you,
