From what i read the former owner has posted photos on that ad to show how trained she is, it sure sounds like the same horse. the former owner says she can not afford transport and she thinks the horse is in texas not washington. but who knows. perhaps that project horse will be a great horse for someone who is willing to take that chance. i presume all she needs is work and love and time.

If you can, post the ad/link, I followed that saga as well. Has anyone made contact with ## about it?

the other thread about lakota on here has the link to the ad on auction horses and no one has a number for the former owner. here is the link to the ad. auctionhorseswa.proboards.com/thread/13122/959-fairy-10yr-bay-mareshe did post on the other place that this particular mare is not hers when i spoke via pm she said she did not have transport monies from texas to florida.

Her mare is also not 14 or anywhere near that age {I think}...she may not come here very often with updates but is keeping track of where the mare is and with whom she has written me. This is a messy he says she says horse stolen/abandoned topic...I feel bad for all involved..
Bottom line though is the owner can't afford to buy the horse and ship it nor pay board on it once it were to arrive in her location. She has recently acquired a new horse I believe...
I think the horse she was truly wanting to find was the mares colt...I don't know how that is going if at all anyplace. Occasionally she pops in on ** or here and catches us up to what she knows...

i did not mean to start any problems ... i thought this was a horse thats identity was in question, and the owner wanted her back. the price is DIRT cheap, perfect fodder for kill buyers. the seller sounds desperate, she is a beautiful horse i hope she finds a good home.

You are NOT starting any problems...my apologies if it came off nasty in response. I did not mean for that... :-[
I figured you were unaware of what had happened, it has been ongoing for I think now close to 3 years{?} possibly more since they were "stolen". I have also heard that they were given away due to neglect...I do not know. All I do know is the person was supposedly paying for them to live in a field, but that was it. They were there a long time with no one of responsible nature {owner} checking on them, no farrier or vet care and new hands of ownership {Or actually arrest of the barns old owner and who the deal for care was made} and all this started to unravel. The time of their disappearance is questionable as the owner moved and left the horses behind, sent checks that were never cashed and never realized her money wasn't being taken for the care...I said it was messy...
It gets real messy, complicated and a he said, she said, they said...bottom line is horses are gone. Neither at the time was "broke" to be dependable and safe mounts so their future was questionable. I find it hard to believe that a horse like this was transported across much of the country..for what? Why? and at what rich persons expense... I love horses, but honestly...would not pay for either one to buy them nor fund the shipping. Because I am now jaded from working in the industry...they were common muts, nothing special in looks or abilities that had been brought forth by their then current owner..in fact they had some serious issues the one. Things may have changed at the hands of those who acquired them...again, I don't know. I do know that if someone put time, effort, love and training into them than they when sold would be more than a few dollars paid for what was originally gotten of barely green broke. The fact though is the horse market is severely depressed still. I can buy in my state {which is where this fiasco started} a nice horse, registered, trained and well... you know ... for as little as $300 at most. I can get freebees too, as many as I can afford to feed if I want to...my vet knows of some pointed papered AQHA, Thoroughbreds, Appendix, Arabians, Paints...to many to think about that are all looking for a good home...so IDK...Where are those horses really?
My apologies to ** if she reads this...I have always hoped you would reunite with them someday and still do but I am also practical and realize it probably won't happen for a variety of reasons. Sometimes, although hard on our heart, it is the better thing to have happen. You can never go back and re-create what you thought you had...second time around is never the same in horse ownership...our mind forgets many things and what we remember is usually not even close to reality...that is the hearts work of padding the memories to make them rosy...our brain though finds out that there were thorns on those rose stems too. And yes, at this price she is ripe for the taking to slaughter sadly. :-/

1fatmule we appreciate your input about any subject on this forum and hl4l thanks for your response as always, very informative and to the point. and too bad the owner can not get the mare and got another instead. makes me wonder . i would have spent borrowed thousands for the purchasing and shipping of my first horse, no matter what condition or age he would have been in at the time. but i was not that lucky.

I sure hope you're right redzip...I surely hope that horse found a good home.
Every horse deserves a loving human for themself to spoil them, care and love them. No horse deserves the cruelty not of the actual killing but the journey there is terrible for any animal to endure. I have seen cattle arrive on the trucks, go through the process of and then slaughtered at the slaughter house not far from my home...they are treated more than humanely what I saw. They did not suffer at this place!! I have not and will not go to a horse slaughter house...I could not!!
I myself have mixed emotions about horse slaughter houses. I do recognize that some horses are just plain rank, dangerous, vicious, sick and have no business being alive, my opinion...but to many are put through "the system" only because they went to sale and the weight quota wasn't met for that weeks meat shipment so any cheap horse went down the road to death. Sometimes slaughter is a way out for a owner overwhelmed and no $ to do the right thing...unfortunately though it isn't exactly as nice for the animal as euthanasia is when done correctly. It also is a scapegoat for to many unscrupulous people to rid themself of the animal{s}... I know in France horses are raised as we do cattle {beef} for consumption...it is part of their culture as beef is ours. The animals are raised drug-free and healthy to enter the food chain...horses here in this country are not ever supposed to enter the food chain if they have had wormer, bute, and a host of other drugs commonly given by owners...a vast difference in "intended use" of a animal and why they were around in the first place...tell me those "meat buyers" are checking the health certificates...if there is a health certificate!!
Like I said...I myself have very mixed emotions about the entire industry...but recognize both sides of the issue... Now I am ducking the thrown road apples but I am being honest to you all and to myself...
And HL...I did move heaven and earth for my first horse to get him back. Then I found a family who wanted a companion for their horse...he lived out his days with them...and I use to go see him occasionally...he always came when I called with a whinny and kick up of his heels. he was my heart horse!!
