A great looking couple were here today to see the facility for a possible retirement for their horse.
sounds great right. well let me tell you. sellers need to be more honest. and dealers need to step up and take some responsibility. but like anything else were money is involved few people give a hoot.
these people paid as much for this horse as you would a used car. in the 5 figures. that being said they also had a ppe. 1500. for that. they are paying a grand for board. and shoes every 5 weeks to the tune of $225.
after owning the horse for 4 months. opps it is lame. call vet. a grand later well give him vitamine e and probios/ still no solution as to why he is lame.
another month and lame again. . the entire time of a year and a half the horse has been ridden about a week every month, the rest of the time he is laid up and lame. hock injections, just in case. and coffin bone injections. for no reason just to see if they work. oh and the last vet said he has kissing spine, after a runaway situation where he fell.
now what is that.
this horse is 13 years old and is never going to be sound. they have spend thousand trying and now they are burnt out. the daughter is turned off totaly from riding, thankfully these people are doing what is right. going to keep the horse and see to it that he is kept happy, and fed until the end.
I am hoping the decide to bring him up here and see in a few months that this horse needs his shoes off, and the freedom to run and play and get dirty and be a horse.
will keep everyone posted on the outcome of this.
