NOSEY
Sugarfoot was a Springer Spaniel pup who was growing in size and was growing in trouble making behaviors.
I had a teddy bear collection and time after time we would find the puppy had taken one of the stuffed bears and had chewed off the bear's nose. Training soon stopped the behavior, but not until many of my bear's went noseless. So I had a beloved dog and many teddy bears without noses.
Our church had an annual rummage sale to help families during the holidays. That was the year that more than usual were in need and the ladies who prepared the sale were behind on the work to set it up. Normally they mended and repaired the items to make them better for the sale. This year many things were set out that were not mended.
I filled my cardboard box with many items to buy to help out the fund raiser. Then I saw it. I set my box down and walked to the table in the back. There was a small brown stuffed bear. I picked it up and squealed with delight "Will you look at that nose?" The bear had a plastic nose that was so perfect, I fell in love instantly. I saw no price and so I frantically asked how much the bear was.
"A nickel" was the reply form one of the ladies.
"Why only a nickel?"
Then the workers all came around, "The bear has no eyes!"
"Oh I hadn't noticed."
Then one of my friends who was working there told me, "We were going to just throw it out. Since we didn't have time to fix it, we wondered who would want a bear without eyes?"
We all laughed knowing that God has a very special place for all of us.
For those of us that have no eyes, he finds us a place that will love our nose.
My "nosey" bear never had eyes added. Instead he sits with no eyes, but with the most perfect nose ever.
That bear is very beloved to this day and is a reminder that we never have to have our flaws "fixed" to be truly loved by God.
