I want to sell my newer western saddle. Its 6 years old, bought it brand new, Tex Tan 16 inch flex trail saddle, excellent condition, just too big for Zippy and me. Its time to move it out of the tack room mini-graphics-smileys-955610 My friend/neighbor has good luck selling saddles on TackTrader and uses her PayPal acct., and is charged a small fee. Anyone else use TT, or any other sites? Experiences, advice welcome Thanks!

I have used Craigslist and a local site called Ocala4Sale with good results and success. I have a secondary email that I use for communications so I am not giving out my name...protects me. I use my cell phone as it is also not address traceable or at least it never use to be. I refuse to "split" a percentage to selling web-sites... mini-graphics-smileys-861556 ...no, no, NO! I don't "absorb" shipping costs and only take cash payment, cashiers check that MUST clear my bank completely before I will ship anything. That clearing usually takes a extra 2-3 days but today it is to easy to fake a bank check with computer programs and laser printers!!
Oh...and cash....small bills no larger than $50 and I invested in one of those marking pens the banks & stores use... I prefer to meet someone in a public location, McDonald's, Walmart or such....
When I sold our horse I had so many try to find out where we were although they would not give me their name {caller ID works!!}. I was very careful when he was being sold that all my gates had chains and padlocks secured on them and if we went out my gates were blocked by truck & trailer and I alerted my neighbors to watch for people around if we were not. I have great neighbors and we all have very large, very LOUD dogs! we do watch out for each other.
Be careful.... smileys-home-474322

Sold it yesterday!! Yay! Too nice of a saddle to just be eye candy. Felt like I got a decent price and she got a great deal! I've had it since 2009, and it was way too big for Zippy. So glad to have it go to someone who will enjoy it

I just used a local horsey site MM. I was nervous about the PayPal thing, so just kept 'fishing' locally until I got a bite. We agreed on a price and she came to get and paid CASH. PERFECT!!

I have dealt with Pay Pal a lot and have never had an issue. I have that brand new Big Horn Saddle and I think I'm going to sell it. I just haven't sat down and put the ads out there. It's a nice comfy saddle but it seems they have changed the fenders on them and just don't slide far enough forward going down steep hills and makes you feel like your going to far forward. Bad feeling on big rocky trails. I'll stick with my Eli Miller.

Glad you sold the saddle and i have never had a problem with pay pal and if you check off the box that it is not for goods and services there is no fee. i take paypal for board payments and credit cards over the phone. anyway.. i sell on craigs list,, ht. and here. and our local fb pages for tack.

HL - the only thing I have heard about marking as not for goods and services is that you lose a lot of the protection that paypal can offer you if something goes wrong in the deal like if someone doesn't pay or the item is not what you expected. I've only ever sent money via paypal so I may be wrong on that but something for people to look in to if they might be going that route with selling something.
