Not a big deal, just weird. Index finger, right hand. I remember it starting to bother me yesterday very late afternoon, could see swelling by evening and then it did hurt. Today I've been able to bend it a little and it's more just stiff and uncomfortable. I have no idea why, no recollection of doing anything to it.

I have a similar swollen finger, however I know I jammed it. You sure you don't remember bumping it hard and just kind of dismissing it as we all do? Finally now mine is starting to look normal again, it's been quite a while but it still isn't quite right.

Mine got like that a few weeks ago and it hurt to even look at it. after a couple of days it went down. perhaps some arthritis settling in. i use my fingers alot just to keep the hands from stiffening up.

Still swollen, stiff kind of ache but totally usable.

Hum, maybe. I have mornings that my fingers are stiff, those Copper Hands gloves work really well for me. That did cross my mind, but just one finger? The human body is a strange critter sometimes!

not a sting or bite followed by a reaction? Not even the slightest mark. I do get bumps and bruises that I can't remember. Usually I had been doing something like hauling hay, fixing fence, standing on a ladder. I had been doing quite a bit of tree trimming, maybe strain from that. Hasn't done it before, but then I'm getting older by the day.

My grandmother wore a copper bracelet for ever and it seemed to help. i think i will get one and wear it all the time. perhaps an ankle bracelet in copper so it does not get caught when doing hay and farm stuff. just dawned on my.

If I wore copper around my neck, would it work on my brain?

Okay, this is becoming beyond annoying. Finger had been getting better, able bend a little more each day. This am I wake up with finger fully swollen back up, and now I'll say painful. If I bend or try to fully straighten it, pain. It's more the bottom section and directly below where it attaches to the hand. Those two ares also hurt to pressure. That area, on the palm, right below the finger is swollen also. Here's a pic. Any thoughts on how to reduce pain and swelling.

Oh goodness, I was hoping you were getting better. If it keeps happening, a trip to the doctor might be in order. Have you tried taking Benadryl? Perhaps the anti-histamines will help with the swelling. I think the main thing is to figure out why it is swelling. Do you toss and turn a bunch at night? Maybe you are jamming it somehow while you sleep?

I don't know if what you have is the same as mine, but mine did the same thing. It would get better than get worse and I would feel it when it was in certain positions, like if I tried to hold the edge of a bowl, yow! I really think I had a hairline fracture because when I jammed it, I almost passed out and got very nauseous. Of course fool that I am, I didn't think I needed to go to the Dr. Afterall, it was still attached and not bloody. It seemed I would re-injure it at night when I'd sleep on it. I took to taping it with the other fingers. That seemed to help. However, maybe a Dr. visit would help? You don't want arthritis setting in. Do as I say not as I do. smileys-multiple-smileys-651015

I wish I knew what to call that part of the palm, right below where the finger attaches. This am the finger is swollen and stiff, but not painful. The part that hurts is the place right below where the finger attaches. Putting fingers around anything of size, can't do it; small stuff, no problem at all. I put a finger sleeve on it, kinda tight due to the swelling. Taping is a good idea. I've already got some arthritis in my fingers, I thought that was it at first, but this is worse and never in my hand, even if it is a very small part on the palm.

My does time fly! The finger/hand is totally good now. The last to finish up was that area right below where the finger attaches. Do not remember having pain there before. Anyhow, back to doing chores with only the normal aches and pains (from age)
