Zippy just got home yesterday from his 30 day stint at 'boot camp'. Boy, talk about an attitude change,.., he is DELIGHTFUL!!!!!!!!! I don't know how she did it, but he is CALM, SENSIBLE, RELAXED and doing everything I asked of him. He was totally a pleasure to ride yesterday, tried his best with the leads (still struggling with the left cue, but we'll get there) without getting super anxious. No longer fussy with the bit, not so overly reactive, and did I mention CALM?? And, she has actually put beginners on him for lessons. I love it!! NOW, to keep the momentum going forward!!!
Here's myhandsome boy, glad to be back home in his grass filled paddock

How exciting!!! Were you able to take a lesson or two with the trainer to know what she has been doing with him? I'm so glad you finally found someone competent to help Zippy along. He does look pretty happy in that pic.

Thanks MM, and Lippy apple Honestly MM, I've never seen Zippy so HAPPY!! That is exactly how I would describe him, Happy,., and Confident. I did ride with her for a few minutes on Sunday,.., and she is available via FB. She just did everything with him, and he obviously THRIVED on it. Hubby even rode him yesterday He just needs to be ridden, regularly, and often!! Summer game plan,.., as much 'Zippy Fun' as I can pack into the summer!

Wow!! WOW!! WOW!!!!
So glad to hear good news from the training has occurred... Quite a difference from the last time!
I know this may sound strange but... Did the trainer feed him any differently than you do? Different brand of feed or amounts by any chance? Sometimes that can also make a difference in "'tude!"......
Enjoy your ride time!!

She grained him, something I picked up bc he was 'in work' but it mostly it had to do with him getting regularly ridden. She kept him in a stall more bc he was 'in training' and she had limited space,.., But honestly, I think she let him be him, and worked with what he brought. I honestly think I've been hoping to turn Zippy into Red, and he isn't Red,.., hes Zippy. He moves differently, thinks differently, and acts differently. He definitely came home with a 'in training' mindset that I need to continue to work with. She loved him, and he got tons of attention, which he thrived on. She obviously cared about a good outcome for Zippy, like Kirsten last summer. NOTHING like that last a$$hole that came here. I can go take lessons with her on her farm too, if there are any problems in the future. This girl has ridden, and started colts for years. Shes GOOD!!!!! Am totally grateful that she cared about the end goal., and worked to help Zip become a better citizen.

Great news that Zippy is happy and you are thrilled about the progress that was made. a professional atmosphere and professional hands is always worth it's weight in gold. now you need a friend for him so you and hubby could go riding together.
