It has come to the attention of the admin that a new board is suggested. it will be for members only and be a place for just a comment to be made and others can either add to it or say something that is on their mind. it will be similar to the shout box but will be viewable for days especially for those members that are not able to get on line every day. now for a title it was suggested 'ONE LINERS' or ' "FOR THE MOMENT" or ' "COFFEE BREAK"
Any other suggestions is appreciated, this new board will be in operation by friday Sept 12
thank you for all the suggestions, this forum is growing because of it's members.
the admin.

I like the fact it will be hidden from the non registered members. that way they will be forced to register to see and post. AND WE CAN FREELY DISCUSS STUFF. LOL
i like the term "ONE LINERS" 'JUST A THOUGHT' HITCHING POST' that stays with the theme of horses. or how about we copy the other place and call it AROUND THE WATER COOLER." BREAK TIME >>>>

I really like the idea, but I don't have a suggestion to what it should be called. Sometimes we all have lives that get so hectic we barely have time to take a deep breath. It sounds like this board would give us a place, to just take a second, and let everyone know we are ok, but just not able to get into detail at this time. It would also be a place to say DARN!!!! when we look out the door, and find a foot of on the ground, and will be outside for the next two days shoveling a path to the horses.
Administrators, You have done such a good job with the seasonal smileys, but we might be needing one with a shovel, if all the winter predictions are right.

Maybe I'm just the suspicious type but I feel like it's sneaky. I don't like it.

I bet a lot just joined the board but haven't come back. Doesn't the list of members show when the person last signed on?

Yes it does mm...it shows when you joined and a history of any posts you commented on or threads you started or if you are absent....
Not every forum has a 100% "active" membership all the time. Remember that although there are members not active, if they wish to see "private" areas then they must log in...and there is a record of that on the page bottom every day of members present. If you don't "log-in"....you are just another guest and see what they see and enjoy, but none of the "secret" treat area we have for "us".
I see you...we see you or you don't see all of us!!

I like "one liners, or neigh-bors" but any of the suggested ones are great.
It sounds like a good idea, half the time I miss most of a conversation.

I'm suspicious because they're from the other place. Why?
We/You have done nothing wrong by becoming a member here. You are not owned by any web site and are free to go and post wherever you wish whether others like it or not. We are governed by the rules of this forum. We have our constitution behind us of "Freedom of Speech"...
Yes, I am also leery at times but truly...no one has done any wrong. If our members choose to "spy" on us there is little that they can do to us elsewhere. Seriously, ban us is worst that they can do or a lawsuit against their actions taken beyond proper channels they can face and also puts them in the wrong. Every web site is governed by their own set of rules.... what makes some sites flourish and grow and others die. How those rules are applied, by whom and to what degree.....well, we all know what can happen officiating going in both directions.Relax, smile and enjoy yourself and the fun, our friends and company we all get to share here. {Makes you wonder if there are spies if they are envious of our fun and friendship that we share together....I like our group and having the ability as new members arrive of our friendships expanding.}

I don't know why it bugs me. Maybe because it's like having someone listen in on a conversation. And why join if you have no interest in engaging with any of us? Maybe I feel like we're being rejected. I'm probably just being sensitive or defensive because it seemed like there was a spy a while back.
But I have to admit that I did it on a forum about colon cancer. It was difficult to navigate when I wasn't a member so I joined and then I realized the majority of posts were from people who don't have a good diagnosis and people who were doing well and now are not going to make it. I didn't need that, I just wanted to ask some questions about practical things. The last thing I want to hear about is how people are going to die from this when I'm trying to be optimistic about my prognosis. Once I figured this out I never went back on. But I also don't lurk there.

I know what you mean nhg about other forums. I looked at a caregivers forum. I want real answers, and understanding, from someone who is going through some of what I am. What I found was petty complaining, and whining. I didn't join. I think we have been spoiled here.
I also don't like the idea of people joining, but never posting. Maybe they just don't have anything to say, or...... It did seem that one of our members might be a moderator somewhere else. I thought about not posting because of it, but who would that be hurting? Only me, because I would be missing out on friendships that are important to me.

NHG, yes most of the members that are not even logging on are from the other place, and a few members that were invited and do not participate, each one has been investigated as to who they are and from what computor they are using by their ip address. if the administrator feels the prospective member is not up and up they are not allowed to become members. even to sign on. their application is not accepted. so please rest assured the forum is being taken care of to make this place a nice forum with great people who help each other and give a shoulder when needed. the others that are members and do log on but do not participate. they apparently do that on other sites also. but as long as they do not cause trouble here they are welcome to keep their membership.
NOW... back to a name for the chat room. how about the one liner ." LET'S TALK " yes it was joan rivers words but she was right and it always worked .
