Hubbies arab mare Fashar Raffi, we call Vanity will be 35 , she has had 4 teeth out in the past month cause she was not chewing well and has always been independent, willfull , and determined, i always let her roam the lawn with her friend who is 32 and in the morning i stall them and give them their breakfast. in the winter, when we need the room, she goes into a tie stall in the arena. well tonight in she walks as we were feeding the horses in the arena for the night. walked over to the tie stall and helped herself . now mind you she was in a stall in the main barn. banged on the door until it opened and sauntered up like the queen that she is. I suppose she heard me talking about getting the stalls ready for winter,

Sassy! Red can still be pretty sassy at times. Shame his arthritis and weight are becoming so hard to manage with age

This mare lost about 75 pounds in a week because she was not eating he grain, just mushing it up and spitting it out. called the vet and she pulled 4 teeth and i started her on Phen -g 60 cc a day sounds like a lot and it was. but something worked because she got these lumps in the throat all the way to her chest they went down than she started to eat with a vengence. she is a remarkable horse never sick , she has gained most of her weight back.

redzip & horselady...
I swear your horses know how much you love and care about them... They do love to give you gray hairs though it appears... just another type of a "kid"...

Most arabs tend to be very animated and have a lot of character (even is they AREN'T animated). I have a soft spot for crotchety old arabs. I'm not sure why, they just amuse me with they attitudes!

Well she is a riot. Hubby wanted them to stay inside the other night because he thought it was going to rain. by daybreak she was out of her stall and so was her companion. when i went to feed breakfast i found.the handle to the geldings door off the door and on the floor. so i thought 'I" did not lock him in the night before correctly. And yesterday giving them breakfast. and going to another barn to feed them. out she comes just all happy and prancy. she let herself out of the stall. she kicks the door until the handle jiggles and out come a happy horse. I went to let the horses out to the field and i noticed the handle to the geldings stall was all askew and had slobber on it and food residue. which means she did let him out and the door was open except he was still eating. funny horse,.

Too funny! Our Zena is like that. We had to put clips on the handles to the dutch doors to "lock" them because Zena had figured out how to open the doors. I remember one time I had kept both horses in their stalls and I came home to find that Zena had turned herself out. Another time I had left both horses out and I came home to find that she had put the other horse in their stall while she stayed out!
