So I have an old pos Stubben English saddle I got cheap off someone on HT.
I think I'll start riding Dax in it, the timberline drowns him and I think the VB although I haven't tried it will be too narrow till he slims down a bit, he has huge love handles behind his shoulders lol!
I bet the first few rides will be tough, I haven't ridden English in 10 plus years!.....looking forward to it though I do feel you can feel the horse more and it's easier to get them moving properly, those horns get in the way of my hands big time.
Pics soon!

I love my stubben and my crosby, and i agree the western horn does get in the way. especially when jumping over a log. that horn hits the belly.

I love riding english, I find I get really lazy when I ride western for long periods of time. Mind you any discipline can be a work out but my legs seem a specially tired after an english lesson. lol
Can't wait to see pictures!

So Dax is a bit too ok a lot too wide for the saddle:(
It fits Isis perfect!
I may sell it cheap and just pick up a cob fit thorowgood, I loved my thorowgood back in scotland, of all the expensive saddles I had and tried the free close contact thorowgood a rep gave me was the one I kept!
I already have someone interested in it, it's going cheap cheap!
The pics I have aren't very good I'm afraid, the sun was shining and it was hard to see, I took 2 of his foot with the crack as it's getting wider but not longer and in one I took a pic of the ground lol!

Ok, so as I said the Stubben doesn't fit him anymore:(
Well I went looking for a thorowgood cob GP, greenhawk said 11 weeks and quoted me $100 more than the USA price but then if I get caught with importation fees they said it would be another $200 but I could get it in 11 days.
So I looked at a company I used to use in scotland, they sent it for me, I ordered it Wednesday, it arrived just now, I had to pay $50 import fees so,it still cost me less than the greenhawk price and arrived in 6 days!
I just rode him so I'll get him fixed up in it and post some pictures Tuesday or Wednesday:)

Wow! Fast service! And if you ever have to sell it you can advertise it as 'imported from Scotland'.

LOL!.....it's still not wide enough!
He's got no shape right now, I'll post some pics!
Luckily the thorowgoods have changeable gullets, I just measured him and he is beyond but not much their fattest gullet, silver, hoping greenhawk has one in stock and I can go pick it up today:)

So greenhawk is the only stockist of this brand apparently and can get a wider bar for me 2-4 weeks lol!
I've just ordered one off their website expedited, waiting to see when that will arrive, I bet it's still quicker than the store a half hour drive from me!

LD, here's a hypothetical - if I bought what you needed here in the states and then shipped to you, would there still be import charges/taxes? If I classified it as a gift would that make a difference?

No charges if gifted, I actually bought a watch for hubby last year and the seller marked the price down and said gift and I paid no extra, not sure how long he will get away with that as he is a store!

The saddle looks great! Prince is a chubbette, too. He was on a diet and lost a lot of weight but just gets a normal amount now. Hopefully he'll lose some weight over the winter. And I'm able to ride more now so that'll help.
