Hello to the forum! I'm so excited to be here. I am an avid trail rider. In fact, we just recently finished getting our gear together to do some back country camping with pack horse. I am excited to try it and nervous too! We own a multitude of breeds of horse. All of them are broke to ride that are of age save one who goes to the trainer in August. My heart belongs to the Appaloosa and I own 3 of them for riding purposes. I also have a QH that is a riding horse. My husband has an Appy, a Walking horse and a Paint horse that he rides. In addition to that we have a donkey, a mini a pony and an Appaloosa stud who is an old man at 19. We have only had him a few months mostly to prevent him going to a kill buyer. We also have , bovine, turkeys, guineas, chickens, doves, a rabit and SEVERAL felines both inside and out. Probably around 14 feliness total now I guess. We are the dumping ground for animals That is about all I can think of for now. Oh.. I'm 52 or 53.. Can't remember which..LOL.. short and fat and sassy. I am also beyond drama from anyone. I'm ready to really enjoy the last half of my life and I hope to fill it with lots of laughter, riding and fun! Thanks for the add and Happy trails. EDITED TO ADD.. somehow I ended up with a lot of kitty icons. I tried to remove them. Hope it worked..lol

I already like it here! Thanks for the invite and the warm welcome. We should ALL get together and ride! Seriously! How much fun would that be?? Mingiz I am going to hold you to that promise I am about to head off on a grand adventure! Leaving Wednesday for Wisconsin to hitch a ride then over to Wyoming and Montana to do the annual Chief Joseph ride. I'm so excited I couldn't even sleep last night! I did not think I was going to be able to do it but so far it is looking GOOD! Terry.. since you are from IL. Have you heard of a primitive horse camp at Middle Fork State Park? It's about exactly half way from here to Wisconsin and I am thinking of trying to overnight there. I emailed them but haven't heard back.

I just looked it up, though, and it appears to be about 1 1/2 hrs. away from me, right between Champaign and Danville.
Where are you from?

I am from Whitesburg - about an hour North East of Knoxville, Tennessee. I am going on the chief Jo ride but I have to get to a friend's place in Minnesota to hitch a ride. It is 14 hours so I thought I would overnight half way. Middle fork is half way. I hope to stay there Wednesday night if you wanna come by for a visit I hope they get back in touch with me. I'm also still waiting on my sleeping pad to get here.

Have a safe trip and a fun time on the ride!
I feel sort of stupid for asking where you are from. Now I see that you put it right in the title of your thread! I was obviously having a "duh" moment.

a warm welcome from Michigan. your horses are beautiful, i am a BIG fan of shuffling appy's. Thank you! I love the shuffle above ALL others I have ridden. I just can't say enough about how wonderful it is to ride a shuffler especially if you do some long trail rides. I don't know if any of you have done much mountain riding but my husband has a walking horse. Uphill she is wonderful but going down hill not so great. I have noticed my friends who ride gaited horses having the same issue. It's sort of a lurching down hill. My QH - even my very comfortable one - was not nearly as comfortable as my shuffler at all gaits. I'm just totally sold and praying my mare's last filly will shuffle under saddle. Every one keep your fingers crossed for me. I will know in another month or so

Thank you Lipizzan! I'm very happy to be here . We had another storm roll thru last night so I had to unplug everything. I fixed my profile just now. have a very busy day today and so much to accomplish. I still haven't made my ghetto trailer thread..lol.. Will try to do that before starting my day. On my second cup of Joe right now.
