We went to Bakersville Pioneer Day. This is a seed company. I have never seen so many different seeds in one place. There were crafters and music. Then we went over to Laura Ingalls Wilder homestead where is wrote the Little House books. It was neat. Couldn't take and pics inside of the house or museum. Then went over to the Rock house she lived in also. Pretty neat...Then as we were walking up to the rock house we saw a big fat red squirrel up in a walnut tree pigging out...Here is a link to the gallery. mingiz.smugmug.com/Other/Bakersville-Pioneer-Days/32336735_N33BMd

All the items in the Laura Ingalls Wilder house and museum were original. At the Pioneer Days All the dresses quilts etc were hand made. There was one lady sewing together blocks for a quilt using an antique Singer machine. We were going to go to Bass Pro in Springfield and go through the museum there. But we opted for the Ingalls home stead instead. Besides I would have spent money at BPS....I did get a t-shirt from the shop at the Ingalls place... I'm hoping that there will be fall colors when we get back. I want to go to Branson and go up in the tower they have there to get pics...

Wow...I remember reading those books...they were wonderful "stories". What a beautiful part of the world this is in...rural life had a special beauty that is unequaled today I believe. I love my "amenities", but could truly appreciate and enjoy a change of pace back to the old ways sometimes... Thanks for sharing such a nice trip of memories... covered wagon, horse and buggy, saddle, scarecrow.... they worked hard but has so much to be proud of....

Great pictures, thanks for sharing! I would have enjoyed going there too.
Along those lines, here's a picture of a spinning wheel my son made for his girl:
