I took Mister on another competitive trail ride Sept 22 (the day before I left for vacation!). It was the first one we had been to since last May (we don't do much in the summer) and I had only been on him a time or two since then. Used my new saddle and I really like but am glad I got a Cashel wool seat saver because even with it, my bum was a bit sore. I think it must fit Mister better though as he was walking out very well along the trail.
Anyway here were the obstacles for those who like that sort of thing:
Sick animal/mount: pick up big teddy bear like a sick animal, place in front of the saddle and mount without dropping the bear
Drag: pretty self-explanatory!
Pick-up: Pickup a plastic bag with empty soda cans and walk it over to a trash can and toss it in
Water: grab sponges that were in a "holey" bag on a string, walk into creek, stop, drop sponges in water then use to wet both sides of horses neck (to simulate cooling an overheated horse)
Deadfall: walk into deadfall, stop straddling a downed tree, count to five and proceed
Barrel pinwheel: pick up end of pole from one barrel, walk around the other barrel without dropping the other end of pole and return pole to first barrel.
Mister did fantastic with all the obstacles and was even better about being around the other horses. It may have had to due with the fact I had my spurs on. We got first in our division (Novice) and Overall High Point.
A pro was taking pictures at the mount obstacle but hasn't posted them yet. I will try to get a few of my pictures uploaded later (it's time to go home from work!).
