So about 3 years ago I sold a horse (Banana) to a really nice girl at our riding club. She fell in love with his pasture mate(Max) and said she could find a job for him at her barn. Tuesday night she called and said that she could no longer keep him(Max). Since I had given him to her with a strong return policy attached she wanted to know if I still wanted him. He is the only colt from our deceased stallion that I owned so I said yes. My friends 6 horses and her goat are in my extra stalls so the next few days will be spent doing some rearranging again. The other 'return' horse that I got a heads up on is still pending. I love the fact that people are sending them back but the double edged sword is why did you say forever homes and now you don't want to care for them.....just the other two that are sitting in your pasture.

Sad that the "forever" horse seems expendable. Thankfully you are able to take them back and give them the love and care they will need in their waning years... makes me wonder if there is a condition approaching that will cost $$.... I would hope not. Regardless...he is coming home for good!!

Sometimes life changes the way people live and thankfully Max is coming home to you instead of going into the sale situation or auction route. I have taken back horses that i have sold, and they always seem to be happy being in my pasture again. and yes they remember me. and changes at the barn are always exciting. I know he will remember you, they do not forget.

I think its wonderful that your 'return policy' has been respected So many times people just turn around and resell, forgetting the 'return' clause they originally agreed to. Luckily you also have the space to take them back Would love to see pics of Max!!

Glad that the lady did let you know that she couldn't take care of him and sent him back to you.Better than some of the other places they end up going...

That's cool! Too often you hear about people looking for horses that had an agreement that wasn't honoured.
