Lucky you! Where exactly are you staying? Its a big place! Staying on Kilburn High Rd? Quality Hotel. We used Priceline, and put in 4star hotels, plus a bid, that was accepted. After London, I'm not sure yet maybe

Ive never been to London, too busy for me!
Be prepared for twisty turny narrow roads in Scotland, theres lots of cool castles there, when Im not so tired Ill list a few places you might want to see but for sure visit Edinburgh:)
Bath in england is really nice, I love it there:)

Ooh, you have to go to Rosslyn Chapel just outside Edinburgh...so many cool carvings, it's amazing. Definitely Endinburgh - such an amazing city. The castle is awesome - I especially like the little cemetary for soldier's dogs. And after the castle, don't forget to go looking for Greyfriar's Bobby! Of course, you have to hit Inverness and Loch Ness! Linlithgow is a tiny little town with cool castle ruins - it's where we were married! If you are into ghosts - Chillingham Castle in Northumberland. York is pretty awesome - the city walls are great and when the Minster comes into view it is just jaw droppingly gorgeous. Sooo jealous you are going, I can't wait to go back! If you are looking for ideas, I have a travel site with all our pictures - click on Britain 2007 and it will open a sub-menu with links to all the places we went, maybe it will help you with some ideas :) Destination Anywhere

Thanks for all the input, I'm really looking forward to getting away. SL, I will check your travel album and thank you for all the suggestions It just sounds, and looks, so beautiful, and I'm so ready to see some new sights, and marvel at some natural beauty. Its 'kind of' for our 16th wedding anniversary also, and,.., as well, my husband loves to travel as much as I love horses. So in fairness to him, I had promised we would go travel when we didn't have Red anymore. Red's care was soo time consuming in the last few years of his life, and my husband was a HUGE help to me with Red (& Zippy too).

How exciting! I would love to see those places some day, but I doubt I will ever make it there, so I'll have to live vicariously through you. I can't wait to see your pictures and hear all about your trip. Have fun!!

My grandmother is from England so we go visit every few years. If your husband (or you) are into history, especially WWII history, make a trip to Bletchley Park. It is north of London and where, during the war, the Brits decoded the German enigma machines. My grandmother worked there during the war and it is really fascinating. Alan Turing, the father of the modern day computer, worked there as well.
If you are heading further west, rather than north, let me know as that is where we usually visit and I can give you some suggestions. You should try to find a place that does horse back rides through the country side.

OMG!!! How exciting! I'm so jealous! That's my next dream vacation. I'm not into beaches and tropical islands, I want history! I'm of Irish background so I'd love to get there as well.
