i hate fighting horses to worm them,, i use donuts with cream.. give them to donuts a few times and than inject the wormer into the cream and they eat it.. or inject in a small amount of food.. as long as he is where you can see him.. that is the important thing.. thank goodness nothing else happened to him.

Dang....we have one who fights crazy to be paste wormed.. So, he gets his worm medication in his feed. He eats pelleted feed so we make a mash with some apple-juice and applesauce added to make it moist... Mixed well together and he licks the bucket clean...medication and all.
Not worth it to fight with him when he takes his medicine one way or the other for me.
They also sell by us Ivermectin apple flavored.
Even Zimectrin Gold doesn't smell offensive...taste no idea although I've taste-tested many "horsey" things, wormer is not one of them.
Personally I won't do any Quest products....the documented adverse reactions are just to many.
As for Prince... Amazing what food can do when fed in appropriate amounts and frequency. Bouncing back is a great thing and lets you know it isn't "the horse" health-wise but the lack of groceries fed that created a sad situation... The truth of that barn is so obvious now with thriving health rebounding...so glad for you! You're out of their and that is all that matters now... Your horses are safe and under good care once again...win-win situation. The offending barn will soon have a reputation industry wide and horse-owners will leave in droves...saving the owner more money
Do double-check any other vet, dental or such done at this place if you were not in attendance the day done... With such obvious "things not done claimed done"...being extra careful and checking is not a bad thing to do.
